BJMoose
This appears to be a pretty stable installation so far. Installed very straight forward on my system. Needed the appleSMBIOS.kext v1.0.6 replacement for proper CS3 and FCS2 implementation. Tested Rosetta with MS Office 2004 and it works well. Checked out iTunes store and Safari secure websites (https) which were problematic with some other releases and they work fine. The only thing that I've discovered that doesn't work on my system is the Dictionary which behaves the same as it does with the XxX version. All-in-all, a very good job mac.nub. Thanks. p.s. If anyone has a clue about the Dictionary, let me know. It never seemed to get addressed with XxX.

cmdshft
It looks like I am having a kernel issue... Right after it boots up in VMware, it kernel panics. I installed only the proper kexts for my system, which kernel is recommended for my CPU? (Specs of machine are in sig, as always)
flibblesan
hmm. Stopped using the SATA kext, and only used the nforce kext and now I don't get those odd diskarb errors, but instead i get a kernel panic.
khrypt
hi, for th elast 5 hours i've tryed to install XxX 10.4.10 on a E6600, Gigabyte 965P DS4, 2G Ram and a 40G ATA hdd. for all my tries everything's fine on install part, erase/formate hdd, as journaled, select the hdd for install.. installing. then .. restart. change in bios, the boot order, to boot from hdd first, restart again, then after bios init and check.. nothing's happen. nothing.. it's just doing nothing. the tries: 1: full options, with patches, Marwell network drivers, Audion ALC.., ICHR8, USB and ATA.. Nvidia.. 2: Only with patches and aditional but not required stuff, i just forgot the names 3: Clean install, without anything else 4: Insert a Win CD, delete all partitions, then reformating the hdd under disk utility. nothing... it just does not start from hdd... 5: smoking some cigares to calm down, reconnect the win hdd, and writting here.... please advice, my morale is too low right now. thanks

Hugo Guerreiro
Guys all i have to say is in this Screenshot taken 2 minutes ago.... how i did it? simple .... the installer on the disk is not formatting the partition as a MBR but as a GUID so i reformated the partition but as MBR and here is the result ..... after the install i had every thing out of the box except the video drivers ( i didnt choose any at the install process)
cmdshft
Wait, what? Format the partition as MBR instead of GUID? What does that mean? And how did you install? VMware (my method) or native boot from the DVD? Please detail a little more, I am tearing my hair out trying to get this to work...
vinlar
Works like a champ on my Asus P5B Deluxe system. Had to install with the SATA controller set to AHCI in the BIOS (instead of IDE). My 320MB 8800GTS works fine. The on-board audio has audio-out via the Azalia driver, but no input (which is normal for x86 installs). A recommendation for future packages from mac.nub... Consider including MacFUSE and NTFS-3G as optional install packages. This gives read/write access to NTFS partitions, which is handy for many of us. Thanks mac.nub. We nub you! Hugo Guerreiro
Wait, what? Format t he partition as MBR instead of GUID? What does that mean? And how did you install? VMware (my method) or native boot from the DVD? Please detail a little more, I am tearing my hair out trying to get this to work... I did the install natively. I have 2 HD so in one of them i have 10.4.9 the other was empty so i formated the empty one to be not as GUID but as MBR cause i was having the blinking dot problem (-) after install that many people were having. just get the disk utility and go to partition on the disk you want to and choose options and you will see the option to make the partition MBR.like that there wont be any blinking (-) after you do the install and restart your computer
BeauX1
Hi! Thank you very much for this release, however I have a few questions: Will this release work with the following: Marvell Yukon 8838036 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller Intel/Realtek High Definition Audio if not, would it be possible for myself to implement these once the OS is installed? Hi! Would someone be so kind to answer my question? Would like to get this downloading before I hit the hay.
Malbojia
Well after hours of dicking around I manage to get up and running in the desktop. My resolution is borked though stuck at 1024x768 but heres how I did it. Specs: Core 2 Duo E6600 MSI P965-Neo r1.0 GeForce 8800GTS 320meg 1x 80 gig SATA on the ich8 controller 1x SATA DVD+-RW on the ich8 controller. Method of installion Vmware 6.0 via full independent hard disk. Using Custom VM setup of FreeBSD 64-Bit. Opened up the vmx. Changed scsi.presence = "FALSE" added paevm="true" at the bottom of the conf saved it and started her up. Used Installer Options: Base System 10.4.10 Intel SSE3 Kernel & Essentials Verbose Mode AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement SystemProfiler Patch SATA Support. (Dont click on ICH8 or JMicron. Thats what "still waiting for device," for me) Geforce 8800 Series Macbook pro Software Update NVinject Geforce 8800 - 320 meg Azalia Audio Drivers (Use Green Jack for your speakers) Generic IONetworkFamily.kext Fix RealtekR1000 Driver After the installation was completed, I rebooted set my 80 gig as the boot device. Now hit F8 and type -f. Will reload all the kext files. If you just hit enter you'll get a Kernel Panic. During the boot phase pass the VIAATA. Disconnect your monitor cable. Wait 30 seconds then re-connect it. You'll be greated at the First User setup window. Hope this helps anyone.
NUCLEaR
this release for AMD would be a great lifesaver. this actually detects the nForce on my amd computer, but that was only a test to see if that driver worked. if there's an amd release i could insert the driver into, the installation would work perfectly. shardie
Looks like most people are having problems with install DVD's. I think the best thing is that there should be a good damn EASY tutorial on how to make your own DVD for your system and not someone making an install DVD to please the world. This is just like any other install DVD. - fixes some problems people had but at the same time creates even more problems for others. I wish i knew the process of modifying the JAS 10.4.8 DVD. HELP ANYONE ???
BooHannes
Any chance to get ALC889A audio working? Or maby even Creative X-Fi ? EDIT Never mind, I got it to work. http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...1&hl=ALC889
sanpedro
Installed and everything so far is working, except for the ethernet, wireless and audio. Ethernet I might not have checked the right box or one at all. Way to fix without reinstall? Wireless is Inel/PRO. Don't think there's a fix for this is there? And the Audio is Conextant HD and I read something about someone else having a problem as well. Other than those I got it all working from what I've been able to tell. Great release! cmdshft
I've run through 4 kernels so far, and I keep getting kernel panics upon rebooting. The last two I tried, I got a KP with output text superimposed over it that said something like "cannot find driver for ACPI" or something along those lines. I am installing still through VMware, since native boot wont install properly, it tells me there are errors and I have to restart. I hope to find the right kernel soon... Otherwise, sorry to say mac.nub, I might just have to try the uphuck release...
flibblesan
I've tried everything I can think of, but I keep getting kernel panics. This is really sad, as I thought this would work with my board as it's the same chipset as mac.nub has. Proper gutted...
Commander64
Will Not Boot, i just get a "-" flashing on the screen, install 5/6 times using differnt options. ASUS P5N-E SLI IDE HD Hey I think you might want to try Master Boot Record Instead of the default Apple Partition Scheme. Do this by going into Disk Utility at the DVD Startup, select your hard drive, and then go to the partition tab. Then choose options and make it MBR! Click Partition, install, and enjoy! -commander
cmdshft
Which one? The ones before the highlighted one gave nothing but kernel panics. I have yet to try the highlighted one or the next SSE3 one.
mister_doodi
I'm reporting another success with macnub's release but it was hard fought. I had trouble with every single recent release except for kaleyway (sp?). Either freezing at install or blinking cursor. My system is P5B-Deluxe with all sata drives. I decided to take an out of box way to install OSX. I disconnected my SATA dvd drive from my computer and attached my sata to usb adaptor and started install. It worked flawlessly, install was about 1.5X faster with no freezes. My partitions are set to MBR and disks are set to ACHI. You should definatly try this if you have an adaptor or if you have a USB drive.
