Mihow
Hey I tried installing OSx86 (Uphuck 1.4i r2, 10.4.9) on my Aspire 5610 and I ran into a problem. The installation went smoothly and everything seemed fine. Then, on the first boot, after the loading screen with the Apple logo, the screen just went blue and stayed like that. I know it wasn't frozen though, because I could hear the intro video (but not see it)! Every time I reboot, the same thing happens. Any ideas of what could be causing that? Actually, it would be also really helpful if you could tell me which OSx86 release you used and with what installation settings (packages). Thanks! jonokti
The bad thing with acer laptops is there is so many variations the key is to look at the last 4 number after the 5610-4577. The other problems if you looked at various stores the same 5610 sold from one store to the other have varying spec. I'm not 100% if even with the last 4 numbers after the model that it guarantees they will have the same hardware. So while some user claim a certain model works the specs (hardware) will vary. JonyBravo
Good evening folks. vcab01: Can you share what items you selected during install? I also have a 5610 but ending in 4654 Like Mihow, I boot flawless in safe mode (no sound or network of course), and normal bootup stops at blue screen. However, unlike Mihow, I do not hear any sound. My specs are almost identical to Mihow, but unit came with 2gig RAM. Please, everyone share what steps were taken during install. The more detail the better. I only selected the Package (Intel) and the Kernal (Intel SSE3). Previous attempt I installed a couple extra items and it only ended in grey apple screen and kernel panic message. So I think I got a little further along. Thanks. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/64406-acer-aspire-5610z/#findComment-458721 Share on other sites
