Tekel
For some reason I am unable to format my external HD to fat32. Within windows disk management I deleted the current partition and created new and I am still unable to. It will only give me the option for NTFS. But when i select a internal drive I am able to format to Fat32. The external drive is the Maxtor OneTouch III. Will partition magic help me with this? Tekel
anyone had any problems like this with them? Does anyone know if maxtor maybe has it locked to NTFS? Or is it something to do with the HD inside it?
~pcwiz
Windows Disk Management isn't a great partitioning tool. Get PartitionMagic or Acronis Utilities and format. You could also use the GParted Live CD which is very powerful.
Tekel
Finally figured out why. The enclosure that my drive is in has firmware installed that will not allow me to format to fat32 because the firmware requires NTFS. Guess I wont be installin osx86 on it, instead I will be backing up my entire system with it then wiping my internal drive and tryin on it. ~pcwiz
Good job figuring it out, but if you want, you could get a different external drive. I got a 250GB Comstar Platinum drive for 90 bucks Good luck pcwiz
