My laptop Asus F8Sa using ATI Mobility HD2600. At last I can enable hardware CI/QE functions via DVI–> external display after re-flash my laptop's BIOS and upgrade ATIRadeonX2000 related kexts to 10.5.2 from Apple website and New Natit.kext (2008-02-26) from netkas.org. Only two problems remain ;) 1) No possible internal display (2) Failure of internal USB 2.0 Camera even with macam 0.9.1 installed.

P.S. Re-install with Leo4allv3 is more simple to get it working. My Asus F8Sa can enable hardware CI/QE functions both via DVI and VGA --> external display now, however previous two problems still exit up to now.

i have problem with my toshiba a200-23q.

tried with both leo4all v2&3 and iatkos v2.0i, all works well except mobility hd2600 and wifi. graphic adapter works fine without ATIRadeonX2000.kext installed (in 1024*768 only), no acceleration though. with ATIRadeonX2000.kext i´m getting nothing on screen.

tried with natit - no success :(

is there any way to make mobility HD2600 to work like it should?

i don´t need 3d acceleration/opengl on my laptop, is there a simple way to set mobile hd2600 radeon in 1280x800 mode?

"graphic mode"="1280x800" doesen´t work.

Yeah it will. Open /Library/preferences/systemconfiguration/com.apple.boot.plist

Add this:

<key>Graphics Mode</key>

<string>1280x800x32</string>

I have had many late nights recently trying to get the 2600 pro 512 to work, and natit gets it going but qe/ci is not working. Triakis gives me a blue screen every time, and when I add my device ID to extensions/atiradeonx2000.kext/contents/info.plist , I get a hang on the start up grey apple screen with the spinning loader icon.....

I have a kalyway 10.5.2 (latest version) install on my C2Duo, p5945gc/mx asus, sata hdd/sata dvd, 667 2gb memory.

Can anyone suggest the most likely way I can get things working? I have read everything I can find, and tried about 10 installs/reformats etc...no difference.

I'm having the same problem.

Sapphire AGP HD2600XT 512MB, Intel P4 Prescott 3G, 1GB RAM.

OS X 10.5.2.

If I leave my card out of the plist, it runs but has default video.

If I add my card to the plist, it dies on startup at the apple logo.

If I boot with -v I get "AGPVIA: found hammer <hex here>" repeating.

Then, it locks up.

Everything else seems to work, on-board audio, usb headset, DVD-R, etc.

There was a different kext I used at one point that worked and supported my LCD's native res... but qe/opengl did not.

Im using the natit.kext, installed with kext helper.

Damn hot card, yesterday it froze my system, the fan ran slower than normal, then it gave me a BlackSOD. Had to refuel the fan manually with some oil so it now spins good as new (it's 6 months old and worked through all the overheating/ overspinning Radeon HD problem - it's my hero :P) !)

Question :

Anybody tested yet the 10.5.3 update ? I didn't cose i think the white menu bug will come back ...

Edit: tested myself, and with the help of lastExile from the irc channel (thank you) i had no video issues whatsoever. Might be a impression but, the sound from the card lowered ( also i can actually touch the card now ;) )

ATI Radeon HD 2600 AGP Series 10.5.2 Testers needed

Ok so i fixed the AGP i still need the testers to confirm various things like bugs and how the installer goes

This is for ATI Radeon HD 2600 AGP with device id 9586 & 9587

ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro Device Id 9587

Download

ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT Device Id 9586

Download

AMD users might have minor bugs

Intel users should have less bugs

Report back

Got my Palit HD2600XT ("Super" 512mb DDR3) working w/ the XT driver on a Kalyway 10.5.2 install. Although its a PCIe card it did not work without this patch.

Thanks much lastExile.

My card has a HDMI out, but it doesnt seem to work. It gets up to the gray apple screen and then no signal.

The card also has DVI and D-Sub. Im using a DVI->HDMI cable for now, but I want to use HDMI if i get a second display.

Is there any way to get it working?

Ati 2600XT - Device ID 9588

I updated my Mac Pro's graphics to HD3870 and took out the original HD 2600 xt. I thought I might as well put the old card in good use and replaced my hack's 7300 GT with the 2600.

Should I have installed drivers for ati before taking the 7300 out? Now the blue boot screen looks like a chess board when the machine starts. Problems with the graphics, maybe it's the drivers? The ATI card works perfectly under windows vista (though it is originally a Mac card :D), but does not in OSX86. The drivers required are there, but do I need to do more?

I've reinstalled the leopard graphics update, but that didn't help. Next I'll try reinstalling the 10.5.6 update to see if that has any effect.

Edit:

Before jumping to 10.5.6 reinstall I tried searching for a while and bumped into some HD2600 installer which did the trick. Installed in safe mode and rebooted. Everything works agian :D

hi nlbailey, maybe it's a little bit late, but i've got a very similar problem. I finished my first build using a MSI HD 2600 Pro 256MB PCI-E card. In normal use the screen turns on and off, means that you see a randomly black screen and constantly flickering rows of pixels. Maybe it's caused by my screen resolution of 2560x1600, but switching my card to lower res doesn't works.

My Install method:

IPC 10.5.6

  • 9.6.0 Voodoo
  • Intel ICHx Chipsatz Treiber
  • ATI Radeon 2600 Pro Pcie

My Board is a MSI-Neo2-FR, only S-ATA Drives, 4 GB Ram, a e2160 Intel CPU...

Anybody has an Idea, probably should I using the "natit method" to get my card properly working?

Thanks!

It does not work so far in 10.6, we will have to wait and see if Netkas release something for the ATI 2600.

Yeah I second that. I have a Toshiba Satellite P200 Pro with the ATI (never again) Mobility HD 2600 Pro 512 card in it. Noone can seem to get it to work. No supposed mac gurus, no linux experts, no Unix code masters, noone. I didn't think it was impossible but I am starting to think it is.

I'm also laughing after pouring over forums for ages with this issue, and hearing stuff from die hard mac fans like, Macs just work, or (my fav) WORLDS MOST ADVANCED OPERATING SYSTEM) HAH!

if it's this difficult to get a video card to work no wonder apple limit the amount of hardware they make, and only support certain types, I reckon they simply can't write the correct kexts or make unix talk to things properly. It seems that Unix is so picky with every little turn, one wrong injector, one wrong string, one this one that. (Kernel panics happen a lot more than bSod when you are playing with stuff in system library extension.) Advanced my butthole. At least windows will boot up with every single card from every single manufacturer first time, every time, and 8-9 times out of ten esp with new versions with it already installed. I know we are essentially running a half-crack version, but to be honest it doesn't surprise me that noone makes hardware for macs, because look how difficult and how long it takes to get right.

I am going to buy a new laptop with an Nvidia card and never ever purchase another Ati product again, EVer. I know it's not all the fault of guys probably working tirelessly for us Mac user wannabees, cus I heard that ATi need a driver for every card, but for a lifetime windows user who was interested in Mac simply for work purposes, a lot of my clients use macs in the Copier business, and personal interest, not wanting to write off macs without using them, I can tell you I'm not forking out $3500 on a macbook pro, when I'm not using mac all the time.

I hope some smart, unix genius who knows exactly how to make this work steps up and proves me wrong, and just writes it. But I doubt that'll happen. I think it simply can't be done. And you know why. Apple haven't used a mobility radeon hd2600 in any of their laptops that I know of. That could be our answer right there.

Ok so far I tried reading all 14 pages of this thread but can't find any perfect solution for my display. This is my first attempt of getting OSX running on PC. Here are my display specs and I hope someone can help me to find correct procedure to get my display working properly.

Currently Installed Leo4AllV3 (10.5.2). So far I am able to boot up. Got my USB wireless working. But still working on rest of the stuff step by step.

So here is my display configuration on laptop under system profler.

Type: Display

Bus: PCIe

PCIe Lane Width: x16

VRAM (Total): 256 MB

Vendor: ATI (0x1002)

Device ID: 0x9581

Revision ID: 0x0000

Kernel Extension Info: No Kext Loaded

Displays:

Display:

Resolution: 1024 x 768

Depth: 32-bit Color

Core Image: Software

Main Display: Yes

Mirror: Off

Online: Yes

Quartz Extreme: Not Supported

According Gateway my display is

ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 2600 XT PCI Express Graphics

512 MB GDDR3 Dedicated Memory with 1280 x 800.

I will really appreciate if someone can point me or suggest me what need to get proper resolution on my laptop.

Thanks in advance -AJ
