Ok here is where I am at with my "Hackintosh" project.

I have an asus m2n-nvm board that came in a barebones system I bought. I have everything working great, except I cant install to my SATA drive. I can access it in OS X with nforce 4 drivers but cant write to it. Also for some reason my EIDE drive is running slow as crud under OS X (4-5 megabytes per sec) in all excpet for one copy of 10.4.10 I tried.

I am looking for a budget AMD motherboard ($50-$60) that is socket AM2 so I can use my current X2 CPU. I want something that someone has confirmed that SATA is working. I want to be able to install STRAIGHT to my SATA HD and enjoy the blazing SATA II speeds. I dont care if onbaord networking works. I have a card I can use. I also have a geforce 7300LE that works as well.

Is there anything out there someone can recomend to me?

I am also willing to purchase a budget Intel board (dual core support). I want something that still in the $50-$60-$70 price range that will offer me good out of the box support.

My main concern is being able to install to and use my SATA II drive. As well as good out of the box compatibility. I dont mind doing a few patches here and there however.

I have been trying to do some more home work on the subject, but there is alot of conflicting info out there and work has been keeping me real busy lately. I hope you guys and gals can point me in the right direction.

Thanks again,

Adam S.

My suggestion would be to stay away from AMD processors and nForce chipsets if you want compatibility in an OSX86 system. If that's all you have, then that's what you've got work with, but they both will cause you problems. Check out the HCL library for compatible boards/chips and look them up at a place like newegg.com to see if they are in your price range.

any other ideas? I am looking at the MSI but a lot of people on newegg seemed to have issues with the board either dying or being D.O.A. I am also looking at this Biostar board. Let me know what you guys think.
