Beach
I'm thinking of getting an AppleTv and connect a WD My book 1TB (external harddrive). The problem I have today with the harddrive is when I connect it to my macbook and watch some movies from the external harddrive, the harddrive's fan starts and is very disturbing. The solution to this is to copy the movies to the macbooks harddrive and watch it from there, but how can I do that on the AppleTV? Is there any program to stream and buffer from the external harddrive? Like when I watch a movie from internet. The entire movie buffers and then the harddrive can go to sleep...? Does any have a solution? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/63844-appletv-with-an-external-harddrive/ Share on other sites
FUKKU
How loud is it? While the noise from an external might be an issue if it's right next to your laptop, it might not be noticeable when it's 5-10 feet away from you as you're watching TV on the couch with the volume turned up through stereo speakers . realfolkblues
all my externals I have 5 of them hoocked up to my router as NAS. are quite quiet. But i made them all by buying cases and putting drives i bought in them. so i cant attest to how well built your drive is.
