Like the title states, i'm having trouble starting the install. I've got my partition ready to go, and have Uphuck's DVD burned (i've burned it twice now) and am having trouble getting it to start. The DVD boots fine, and I get a white/grey screen with the Apple logo in the middle and a circle that is showing its doing something. After a few minutes I get a circle over the Apple logo with a slash through it and nothing else ever happens. Is there a known fix to this problem? I search and couldn't come up with anything.

So now I took out the OS X DVD to see if I could just get back into Vista. I now get Missing Operating System error. Figuring that it might be an MBR problem I booted with the Vista DVD to go and manually fix the MBR, but it doesn't seem my OS and running the fixmbr command doesn't seem to change anything. Is it possible it killed my Vista install without it actually loading (or did it partially load or something)?

Fist of all make sure that you don't have an USB storage devices hooked up, cause that could cause this problem. Do you have any system restore discs? Give those a shot.

Also I've heard that you want your HDD and your DVD-ROM drive on the same IDE cable, give that a shot and see if you can get into the GUI goodness.

Your HDD being on a SATA cable is most likely the problem and the reason why the MAC OS X isn't going into the GUI.

You have an old HDD that's IDE laying around? They also make IDE to sata adapters too. Good luck, I'm hoping I get a response on this forum.. unless I asked wrong.. lol

So i've tried doing this several different ways and I always end up with the same problem. I get that little circle with a cross through it before the install ever loads (I do see the Apple).

I have tried it on different hard drives, both IDE and SATA. My SATA drives were set to read as IDE and Legacy in my mobo settings. The IDE was the primary drive and the DVD-Rom was the slave.

Could this be a problem with hard drive size? One of my SATA drives is 150 GB, the other is 320 and my IDE drive is 250. Can Mac OSX only detect under a certain size?

I'd really like to give OSX a try, but it just doesn't seem to want to load the install.

The computer has an Intel mobo, with a Quad Core Q6600 proc.

Intel mobo DG33BU

Intel Quad Core Q6600

Nvidia 7950GT PCI-X video card

3 hard drives, two SATA, one IDE

HP DVD-RW drive

I'll try switching the primary controller to AHCI, but I think it might already be set that way. I'll double check though. Can I install to a SATA drive, or does it need to be IDE?

Edit: I put the controller back into AHCI mode, still getting the same problem.

i too am getting the forbidden sign above the apple on boot.it used to work, then suddenly not... but if yo try booting with "-x" to go into safe mode, it works just fine. i think it might have something to do with kexts maybe.UPDATE:IT was kexts! I installed the wrong ATI display drivers, so Mac got pissed. so i booted in Safe Boot, went to Extensions folder, and deleted the ATI kiexts, restarted, and it boots natviely again!

I've searched the entire forum for a solution, i know that the sytem is installed, but i cant start it, with a ps2 or usb mouse keyboard.

In order to show you the error code I've took some pictures

My specs:

Intel Core 2 Duo Quad 6600

3 GB Ram

2 x SATA II 320GB

Geforce 8600GT 256 DDR 3

Chipset Intel P965 Express

Thanks in advance for any tips...

Finally I loaded the system. I've installed just the X11 and Jass Kexts for Intel. But it boots only when the AHCI option is activated. In RAID I still get the forbidden logo. So far I can't use ethernet, audio, etc. And the most strange of all...I thought I've downloaded tha uphuck 10.4.9 version and after install I discovered 10.4.8 installed. Now I have to update it to 10.4.9 and them to 10.4.10 right?

Where can I find the files to make Raid config to work? Thanks!
