I'm just curious how many OSx86 user actually have QE and CI, and if they don't, if they care that their missing it. I have a 865G chipset and I don't have QE or CI, but I hear that if I would downgrade to 10.4.1 it would work. Now I'm enjoying OSx86, but every once in a while things slow down, when dealing with heavy graphics. I would really enjoy at least QE, but I don't know if that will ever become a reality with 10.4.3.

So, what's your opinion on this topic?

Quartz extreme would be very nice, but alas, as can be read in my signature below I have a Nvidia Geforce 6600, on which the 3dfx's succubus curse was rested :poster_oops: , so no .kext support for it and thus no Quartz Extreme and no Core Image for me :laser: ...

Hope someday it'll be possible.

That being said, I get impressed by the smoothness of, for instance, the Genie effect

on my sans QE & CI rig, through VMWare, mind you.

I bought an ati 9600, upgraded from a 9250 to get CI and QE. Paid 80 bucks including shipping from some place off of pricewatch.com. Well worth the money. Runs as fast as my work G5 did. Video tearing with the mouse scroll but other than that, simply awesome.

Btw, if anyone knows how to fix the tearing, please let me know.

Cheers!
