they remind me of the iPhone a bit. But they're steering away from the all white enclousures that they've had for almost 5 years.

Yes, they are, and I never thought that I would admit this, but I'm glad.

The aluminum enclosures are much better, in many ways, than the white ones. I first figured this out when I switched from an iBook to a PowerBook. The powerbook has no scratches on it, whereas the iBook was FULL of them. And I'm rougher with my PowerBook. The difference is also visible with the iPods: the nanos never scratch. The full-sized need protection, or they're like an Aids-free African in Haiti...

I'm annoyed that there isn't a wireless keyboard offering that has the same form factor as the wired keyboard, just wireless.

The idea that a wireless keyboard must be for a portable machine and thus not need a num pad and must include a function key is misguided.

I want the same full sized keyboard, just without a cable.

Yes, I at first also hated this. I still would, If it didn't happen to fit my desk perfectly.

You know those pull-out keyboard/mouse platforms that almost every desk has? Well thanks to the smaller size, I can now use both my wireless mighty mouse and Apple keyboard on there at the same time. But jeeze, I'd otherwise be P-I-S-S-E-D.

RE: New iMac's and Aluminum Keyboards

I had a chance to visit local Apple Store last Friday after work. The new iMac's are very eye-catching and appealing. At first, I wasn't sure about the black border, but it does help focus the eyes on the screen and it is attractive in-person. I also had an opportunity to use the new aluminum keyboards. The keys had good feedback and good for typing (*very* similar to the MacBook keyboard).

All in all, the new iMac's had very attractive setup and the unit was even slimmer than the previous model.
