Big_Dawg and timstl and Alex HQuest you try without natit.kext - you delete natit.kext and checkup work or not work qe/ci ???

If without natit.kext work qe/ci , then you download natit alopias or Prionace ! And work !

If without natit.kext no work qe/ci , then you found problem or write here !

Bronya anyway to fix the 100% fan issue?

Sorry, I do not know problem your card. you have another card!

Redone everything again. Does not matter if I am running with or without natit.kext, screen is always dark, and I have no QE/CI (checked using Remote Desktop Sharing -- VNC).

I am getting XCode 3.0 right now, if you could provide me source code for this particular kext I can try to figure out by myself. Looks like your code works for PCI-E cards, but is acting weird with AGP cards like mine.

Thanks anyways for all your time and help.

Ok , try the ATIRadeonX1000.kext.zip

"pci-e" in /System/Library/Frameworks/ApplicationServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/CoreGraphics.framework/Versions/A/Resources/Configuration.plist , you edit and delete "IOPCIDEVICE" .

downloaded extension on this post

downloaded ATI_1950_Leo for Leopard 10.5.1 from first post

as root:

cd /System/Library/Extensions

rm -fr ATI*

installed ATI_1950_LEO all 4 extensions

as root:

cp -R /Users/myself/Downloads/ATIRadeonX1000.kext /System/Library/Extensions

rm -f /System/Library/Extensions.mkext

Edited Configuration.plist and deleted IOPCIDEVICE

Rebooted

added -f -v flags to boot loader

dark screen, no QE/CI

on vnc client i can change resolutions and see my screen flickering to get new resolution being applied.

monitor is not being detected, gonna post windowserver.log in a few mins.

Ok , try the ATIRadeonX1000.kext.zip"pci-e" in /System/Library/Frameworks/ApplicationServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/CoreGraphics.framework/Versions/A/Resources/Configuration.plist , you edit and delete "IOPCIDEVICE" .
O.K., heres where I am having trouble. This didn't work for me. I had "IOAGPDEVICE," not "IOPCIDEVICE" in my Configuration.plist file. By the way, I have a fine display (and had resolution selection, before I removed natit per your instructions), but no CI/QE, and (I think), no hw acceleration. Also, I just noticed that "About this Mac/More Info.../Hardware/Graphics/Displays" reports Kernel Extension Info: No Kext Loaded. Oh, I see. When I put Natit back in, gives me driver info. ("No Kext Loaded" gone).

Sorry, I do not know problem your card. you have another card!

Here's what I did:

- Removed Natit.kext, rebooted. Graphics quit working right and no QE support.

- Installed Natit.kext from 1st post, ran commands, rebooted. Looked normal, but no QE support still.

- Removed ATI* and natit.kext, removed cache, rebooted.

- Ran ATI_X1950_7288_LEO installer. Ran commands from first post to chown/chmod and update cache. Rebooted.

Graphics still look good but no QE support. Here's what System info says:

ATI Radeon X1950 Series:

Chipset Model: ATI Radeon X1950 Series

Bus: PCIe

Slot: Slot-1

PCIe Lane Width: x16

Vendor: ATI (0x1002)

Device ID: 0x7280

Revision ID: 0x009a

EFI Driver Version: "01.00.140"

Displays:

Depth: 32-bit Color

Core Image: Software

Main Display: Yes

AL1916W:

Resolution: 1440 x 900 @ 60 Hz

Maybe I'm totally missing something.

What about using proper installer for your video card? You are installing a x1950GT driver on a x1950PRO card.

To be honest I had them backwards in my head -- I was thinking I needed 7288, but here's why...

I used the other one first and I couldn't even boot. I'd get stuck at a blue screen before the login box pops up. I had to boot with -s and remove all the files to get back in. I tried the 7288 installer next and I could at least boot up.

I'm going to try starting back from square 1 tonight, and use the 7280 installer again. Maybe I missed something the first time I used it.

Don't understand what you mean by this "you from mind banish?".

Also, do you mean for me to install OS X 10.5.0 the operating system? Or are you saying install the driver you posted for 10.5.0. I currently am running 10.4.10.

Also, do you say "Sorry" because this is something you forgot to tell us before or because we are having so much trouble?

Thanks for your patience.

Alex HQuest, atiradeonx1000.kext my ???

You delete agpgart.kext !

You download OpenGL 10.5.2 .here

ATIRadeonX1000.kext from this post --> http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?s=&...st&p=420376

The driver for Leopard 10.5.1 :zip.gif ATI_X1950_LEO.zip ( 901.15K )

Removed AGPGart.kext

Downloading OpenGL 10.5.2 in Safe Boot, will install and test as soon as download finishes.

EDIT:

No work. Lost VNC. Too bad driver and/or card does not work on Leopard.

Bronja

Can you please help me

i have the folowing card :

Sapphire Ati Radeon X1950Pro 256MB 0x7280 (rev 0x009a)

I tried all the drivers in post #1

i can change resolution, but QE is not supported, Core Image is Software instead of hardware

What is wrong ?

Now I'm really confused.

I removed everything, reran the 7280 installer. Now I have rotation supported, but still not QE and CI is software. The other weird thing is on bootup I get stuck at a blue screen. This happened before to me with the 7280 installer. However, now I have my Energy Saver set to only 1 minute. After my monitors click off, and I move the mouse, the login box appears.

Anyone have anymore ideas? It's also leaving some weird lines places and stuff now. Honestly the 7288 installer (even though I have a 7280 card) seemed to run smoother, just no QE/CI.

Hmm.

As I am pretty sure my brain is working o.k., and I have pretty good experience with troubleshooting computer problems through the years, I am wondering whether anyone thinks that the problems many of us are having are in someway related to any of the following facts 1) the brand (and therefore architecture) of card (e.g., PowerColor), 2) the fact that the card is a Pro 512MB rather than 256MB (I've read about some bug with ATI 512MB cards), or 3) language problems in following instructions (to offense Bronya, but to my American ears, "you from mind banish" sounds a lot more like "forget about it" than "you are not thinking straight" or "your brain is not working properly - I wonder if I have made similar errors in translating your intent while executing your instructions)."

My card has been completely happy to give me video under almost any of these drivers, never gotten blue black or white screens (only gotten lock-ups when I had mis-matched combinations of kexts), only missing ci/qe/hw acceleration. I am pretty sure that my 10.4.10 installation is sound - it is rock-solid-dead stable, and I have had no other problems with it.

However, I would also like to try a completely clean start. How would I go about removing OpenGL_Tiger? Also, I initially installed Bronya's ATI driver while I was using the GMA950 graphics on board, rather than the x1950pro; is that o.k.?

Thanks!

Bronya, while playing with ioreg command, i found lots of references about my display not having its status properly detected, as if it was disconnected/powered down. And in kernel output, i saw many entries like "display not usable".

Can you modify your 7280 kext to force monitor power status to be always ON? I think this is the reason to get a blank screen: Driver isn't able to get monitor status, and is assuming it is off.

I'll get a proper ioreg output (got a trimmed one) and will post here in a few.

Thanks.

Huge thanks for the hard work on these drivers Bronya and all who contributed.

Unfortunately I seem to be having a similar issue as Alex HQuest's initial problem - booting to a blank screen (just wish i was as technically minded and had as much knowledge :))

Please forgive me for the complete lack of experience as this is the first time I've tried the Mac OS - been doing a lot of reading over the last few days...

I've (finally) managed to install iATKOS 1.0ir2 (Leopard 10.5.1) successfully, but after removing the Geforce and NVDA files, downloading and installing the 7280 package from the first post and then fixing the permissions, the PC reboots to a blank black screen.

The OS is running in the background as I am able to enter my password and log in, but there is just no display and booting with the -x option does not help ;)

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I've had to reinstall quite a few times now, lol

I'm about to do another clean install, can anybody offer any advice please? (hopefully my system specs should show up in my sig)

Many thanks in advance :(

Hi everyone! :(

I just installed iATKOS distrib (10.5.1), and I have the Sapphire Ati RadeonX1950Pro 256MB PCI-E (7280), so I installed the LEO 10.5.1 driver for id=7280 but when I reboot, the sreen become dark just after the Apple logo O_o'

It's the first time I have an issue with a Bronya driver....or maybe it's because of Leopard?

Any ideas?

Kinda got it working - sorta.

Installed fresh copy of iATKOS.

Booted into OSX with -x

Removed all GeForce and NVDA* kexts. Ran the "ATI_X1950_LEO" installer from the first post, but left off natit. Fixed permissions, set Energy Saver to put the display to sleep after 1 minute and rebooted.

The PC loaded up OSX but the screen went blank as usual. The monitor powersave function tuned on after a minute at the blank screen, but after moving the mouse and activating the monitor again, the screen was still blank/black.

It was only after pressing the power button and putting the maching into sleep and then waking it that the screen came on and I could see the login and desktop.

Opening the System Profiler showed me that the card was unknown, but supported QE and CI.

I then tried installing the "natit_7288" from the first post. After rebooting, the screen behaves the same way - blank/black. But after sleeping/waking shows the desktop again.

This time, opening the System Profiler showed the card named as an ATI Radeon X1950 Series (& Secondary), but also says the card does not support QE and the Core Image is in software mode.

I then updated the OpenGL.Framework with the one from the 10.5.2 link in this post:

http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?s=&...st&p=553099

because when opening the Desktop & Screensaver panel and clicking on the screensaver button, the panel would crash.

Not sure if I did it correctly or if it needs a special procedure though...

I copied the original OpenGL.Framework to another folder, deleted it and then simply copied the new one into /system/library/frameworks/

After rebooting again, and going through the sleep/wake routine once more, the System Profiler now says the ATI RadeonX1950 Series card supports QE and CI is hardware accelerated. :) :) :)

Unfortunately, although the drivers are telling me that things should be working correctly... :D

The first thing I immediately noticed was that the Apple logo/button in the top left corner had a black box around it. After that I found that when I click on menus or right click on items, the menu is completely black (cannot read the text) but appears normal for a split second as it disappears. At the moment, I'm finding myself clicking the menus multiple times so I can read them and judge whereabouts on the black shape I need to click. :D

It would probably be easier to show with screenshots, but I'm still trying to figure things out, lol :D

[edit] just rebooted again to see if it would keep working, but after sleeping and waking, the desktop, taskbar and launchpad have completely disappeared.

I'm left looking at a blank blue screen and the monitor keeps clicking on and off :(

[edit] Rebooted with -x and still have to tell the PC to sleep and wake before getting a display after the grey apple loading screen. Switched the original OpenGL.Framework back again, rebooted, back to software mode CI and no support for QE

I think the problems with this 1950pro are only with an installation of Kalaway 10.5.1. When I install the integrated drivers there is a kernel panic. Without also. I have to delete with Macdrive all x1000 extensions and then I can boot. The problem is when I install the 10.5.1 driver from this thread it runs only in the software mode. = I think only people with kalaway are in trouble with the new drivers...

What is your opinion?
