This sucks big time!

I have Saphire X1950-pro 256MB. I have a DVI connected IIyama 19" LCD panel. Connected with DIGITAL DVI!!! NO VGA-convertor.

This works fine in Windows XP.

Installed Kalyway 10.5.2.

Installed Apple graphics upgrade.

first installed X1950xxx_10_5_2-9c7010 drivers for dev:7280

DVI DOESN"T WORK!!!!! Only with VGA-adaptor!!!

Full resolution change, QE and CI.

Then re-installed again.

installed Apple graphics upgrade

tried 9c31-drivers.

With DVI-cable NO DVI->VGA adaptorthe following happens.

A picture i/t middle o/t screen telling me that I should plug power cable to videocard?!?!?!?!? Powercable IS plugged in. THIS SUCKS.

Boot does continue (albeit with that picture in the middle o/t screen). Resolution change works. No CI, NO QE.

Installed 9c7010 on top of it. After reboot NO DVI!!!!

This sucks. DVI->VGA adaptor gives much worse image then true DVI digital. If OSX doesn't work with DVI in 2008 than this OS sucks big time! How is this with REAL Macs? Do they have full working DVI?

CHeers.

Uh, yeah, running on DVI is completely possible -- I'm using my 24" fully working on DVI-D and it is no near a real Mac, besides Mac OS X :)

Check previous pages, back when I was playing to make mine working, thread was around page 40... I'm pretty sure there is anything around that may help you. IE, I ended up flashing my card to a different manufacturer BIOS in order to have video signal.

I'm sorry my 1950GT still don't work after installing your package. There's a graphic card & ATi icon on the center of my screen forever, and ATi icon and a line(Power line?) shining. My ID is 7288, and system is 9C7010. Could you give me a solution? Thanks a lot! (Pictures following)

Thanks a lot that ati icon disappeared. But my 1950GT still have software CI and QE not supported. And my dev. ID is strange 0x0000 while others are not. Is it the reason why my graphic card can't open QE? I don't know and I need your help. Could you please help me again? Thanks again! I believe you can help me!

Your card what is :

1) 256 or 512 mb ?

2) PCI-E or AGP ?

3) you write "-f -v" in boot screen ?

4) in system profiler in "Extensions" show ATIRadeonX1000 ???

5) you edit info.plist from ATIRadeonX1000.kext and change 0x72881002 to 0x72881002&0xFFF0FFFF

6) diskutil repairpermissions / !

7) kextload /system/library/extensions/ATIRadeonX1000.kext !

8) rm -rf /system/library/extensions.mkext

9) reboot !

Thanks very much, my card is 512MB and PCI-E. MY system (Leo for All V3) will write "-v" automatically in boot screen (does it matter?). And ATiRadeonX1950 Series is shown in system profiler(And in "Extensions" Folder I can see ATIRadeonX1000.kext). I'll try later, please advert to my following reply.

Bronya rocks!!!!!

I am on 10.5.3 (Updated from .2) using Netkas's instructions and worked like a champ (Standard Kernel). I do not have QE/CI for the 1950ProPCIE but have not re-applied the graphics packages from B yet. Was going to wait and see if one for Mac OS X 10.5.3 (9D34) came out :) I can live a few days without top shape graphics :)

Waiting eagerly

Kevin

PS > Do not install the .5.2 drivers in .5.3 I ended up getting bored and tried. The darn thing would freeze every time I booted up. So I went back to the backup right after the 10.5.3 and stable (But no qe/ci). So be patient and wait for B!

Im' under 10.5.3 and the latest drivers from bronya working well !!!!

Make sure to backup and restore all files needed to make your x1950 work.

cheers

Probably you have overwritted both, new (and problably improved) Ati drivers and new (and probably improved) OpenGL framework...I wouldn't had done that if I were you. Is nothing but a potential source of problems.
