I install the Tiger 10.4.8 on PowerBook G4 but when I press the power button I can't hear the "startup sound" like on the iMac. I think it won't play if the system sound is muted right before restarting/shutting down. Don't mute your system volume before the last time you shutdown. You will then be able to hear it upon the next startup.
