uphuck
@daskog If you prepare your partitions and install os x just like the way I described in v1.4i readme, you ain't got blinking cursor or such errors. Thousands of people following that steps succeded. Besides, the diskutil in v1.4 is capable to do restore and backups unlike the older versions. The last primary partition that u erased with diskutil is flagged as bootable, if you dont have any mbr problems it can boot after erasing + installing os by default. If you erase second one and install osx to first, then it wont boot.

This might be of interest (posted on the green demon): Details for ASRock 775Dual-VSTA Patch v. 2.1 Created by theanonymousness Applications : Macintosh : English This PPF will patch the Uphuck v. 1.3 installation DVD to be fully compatible with the ASRock 775Dual-VSTA motherboard. When the ASRock 775Dual-VSTA motherboard package is selected in the drivers section, all necessary drivers will be loaded for 100% support of motherboard chipsets after installation. All other Uphuck installation options are still functional. Fixes: SATA - Installation disc recognizes SATA, patched kext installed Network - Installs support for VIA Rhine Audio - Skippyretard ALC 888 kext installed for full input and output support Note: The "Skippyretard ALC 888" driver does not seem to support my ALC655 Sound. valdok
hi all, please describe your Hardware in MyControls/Signature to make things better. I had a succesful installation of v.1.4 Rel 2 Installed FCS2, all apps worked except FCP6 (Drivers, System, IOnetworkingFamily installed btw) Error says "The application Final Cut Pro quit unexpectedly", log attached the error isn't the NetworkInterfaces.plist related. Thanks uphuck for your great job!

lennyb
OK. I tried 1.4iR1 on a Dell Latitude D620 and it installed and booted as expected: HW: CPU: Core2 T2300, Chipset: ICH7R, VIDEO: Intel GMA945, HD: SATA, SOUND: Sigmatel 9200, NETWORK: Ethernet BCM57xx Wireless: Dell 1390 Truemobile Full QE/CI support, Wireless Networking OK, No Sound, No Ethernet. I patched the sound with the AppleHDA Patcher v. 1.10 to make it work. Got partial ethernet by following the hacks for BCM57xx at http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...mp;#entry103210 This was a partial solution for the Ethernet. It will only connect on the local subnet. Although DHCP works with the Broadcom 57xx adapter, now, there is no DNS. ALso, the Ethernet adapter shows as a PCI Slot network card not built in. I tried to remedy this by editing NetworkConfiguration.plist, but it resets itself every time. This is not critical, since the Wireless 1390 is functional. But if anyone knows how to make the Broadcom 57xx fully functional, I'd be interested in learning. - - **BUT** I still think the following is important for other users. This same disk described above will not boot when I insert it into an older Dell Inspiron 8600 (ICH4, Intel 855PM chipset). Just like version 1.3, the boot process stalls after loading the ACPI driver at the Buffers=4096 statement. You might say that this is because it has the ICH7 files instead of ICH4, but I don't think so. The boot process doesn't even have a chance to get that far. I installed 1.4i on this disk with the option to use the older version of IOATAFamily.kext but this does not stop the halted boot process as Uphuck apparently believes that it will. I don't want to be a broken record, but the only way to fix that halted boot process on some older Intel chipsets is the trick I came up with -- replace AppleAPIC.kext and AppleMPIC.kext with the versions from Jas 10.4.8 as well as using the older version of AppleACPI.kext. I think it would be helpful to users with older Intel PCs for Uphuck to include the older AppleAPIC and AppleMPIC on the next version of his DVD. This will give you good sound out. As of yet, I've not solved the mic situation on the Bad Axe 2. Actually, I don't use either anymore. I bought an inexpensive Creative Labs Live 24bit USB module and that works natively with OSX...no need for any drivers. Hope this helps.

frizbot
1.4 is a faster OS X than 1.3 according to the release notes. It is best to update, but to keep your old system available in case the update introduces incompatibilities. I have only seen it under VMWare, which it does not boot (shows apple logo, then a no-system logo). Windows says it is 1.06gb as a ZIP, 0.99gb as a 7zip, and 1.35gb uncompressed. I've seen it be decompressed and shared in order to increase ratios on trackers (is that ever backwards!).

lennyb
@lennyb, @Superhero360AppleMPIC.kext has nothing to do with intel architecture. I will add the old version AppleAPIC.kext as a choice with hoping to solve your issues. Uphuck: I'll need to recheck to be sure, but I think you can't change the AppleAPIC version without also loading the corresponding AppleMPIC file. If one of them is a different version from the other I think it might cause a kernel panic. I'm testing 1.4i on a the newer Latitude D620 CoreDuo, now, and trying to resolve other problems that I mentioned in an earlier message. (T-2300CPU, ICH7 chipset, IntelGMA945 video, BCM57xx ethernet, Dell 1390 wireless, Sigmatel 9200 sound.) The BCM57xx fix detailed in the Drivers forum allows the internal ethernet to be recognized, but it freezes after one or two minutes of use. The wireless is fine, and I think I might experiment with attempting to enable recognition of PC Cards. Do you have any interest in that? There are a couple of supplemental PC Card drivers being discussed in the Drivers forum for different chipsets. I got the one for Texas Instruments 4556 to work on the older Dell. There's another one for the PC Card controller on this Dell that I haven't played with, yet. I've also been trying to get the Latitude d620 to run smoothly with the second core enabled. So far, none of the sleep fixes I've tried from Genius bar articles have worked, and the boot process froze when I tried PauliCat's SpeedStep package, so I reinstalled 1.4i again with the power management and speedstep options on your disk selected. That doesn't stop the boot process, it but doesn't allow sleep or the second core to run smoothly, at least so far. The D620 has full QE/CI support with the GMA950 video driver and runs fine on a single core, with cpus=1 in the startup option.

uphuck
@lennyb AppleMPIC.kext is a powerpc binary that you can not load it on any intel, so it has nothing to do on our pc's.. thank you for informations, i put 10.4.8 apic + acpiplatform as a package to choose and tested on my systems, it would be good if you test and make it clear that any other thing is needed or not..
