Hello!

I tried to install uphucks OS-X 10.4.9 on my machine and that worked quite fine. In the past I got a running system with JaS 10.4.6 but USB failed (interestingly with exception of the mouse, which worked fine when connected to the first USB Port), that's why I tried uphuck's release. Now uphuck's release shows a similar behaviour. The USB-mouse works, but no external USB-harddrives (FireWire is OK).

My system configuration is:

Intel D865PERL (Sound AD 1985 and Intel Pro 100 onboard)

Intel Pentium 2,4 GHz HT

ATI Radeon 9800

Alright, I am struggling to get my sound and wireless to work. I have done some research and followed some of the guides but still no luck. I tried the AppleAC97Audio.kext and it seems like everything goes well except no sound comes through the speakers or headphones. I can adjust the volume, and in the audio midi setup under output it shows two channels. Unfortunately, I cant change it to 6 channels like some of the solutions mentioned.

If anyone can help a newbie out I would greatly appreciate itm

Thanks,

D

I managed to install it and finally figured out how to boot it, I kept getting a blinking underscore and nothing happened. It only boots if I use the install disc (Uphuck v1.4i, only one i got) and i have to press f8 at startup and specify "mach_kernel rd=disk0s2" else it wont boot or goes into the installer. But now that I'm staring at this great interface my audio doesn't work, USB doesn't fully work, my mouse is USB and it works but nothing I plug in is detected(iPod, Camera, flash drive), and my ethernet doesn't work either. I have no clue how to start fixing things becuase if the ethernet worked I would go out and download fixes for USB, and if USB worked I would already have used Networking Tulip to get everything else up, but my Install is totally isolated from the world.. well, except for that mouse im using..

SOMEONE HELP, Using D865-PERL motherboard with an Pentium 4 HT, nVidia FX 5500, audio controller should be called ICH5 and pretty much everything but the graphics card is built in...

and what if I don't have another drive to use

Re-install OSX. Using DiskUtil erase the disk.

Next select the Partition Tab, then select Options.

In the next box that opens, select the master boot option, close box, and select Partition.

When this has finished you will notice that the partition type is set to MBR and not GUID.

Continue with install, this should cure Apple.com.boot.plist not found error.

This worked for me hope this helps

I have installed several times. It always works until it tells me to reboot, when I restart it it has to boot from the DVD and it can't find the file. I have to get this working. Because it won't let me reinstall windows.
You might need to boot with a gparted live cd and remove all partitions and start from scratch. Why does it HAVE to boot from the DVD? What happens if you just let it boot without the DVD?
/com.apple.Boot.plist error is a newbie error that is sure not releated to dvd burning.
I got this error a few times randomly just booting from the DVD. I just rebooted each time it came up and the next time it worked. It's unknown to me what actually causes it.

Any chance you can make a ppf for the update? Would save a lot of bandwidth.

Cheers.

Did you flag the OS X partition as active with

fdisk -e /dev/rdisk0
flag 2
quit

If yes, you could try to update the MBR with

fdisk -u /dev/rdisk0

But now that I'm staring at this great interface my audio doesn't work

Did you load any audio driver during MacOS setup? The internal soundcard (AD1985) of the D865PERL should work fine without installing any of the listet drivers on uphuck's DVD.

USB doesn't fully work, my mouse is USB and it works but nothing I plug in is detected(iPod, Camera, flash drive),

I had the same problem and figured out that the USB conflicts disappear if you turn off the USB Legacy support in the BIOS.

and my ethernet doesn't work either.

Choose the Intel Pro 100 VE network card during setup, that's the onboard adapter.

I have a very similiar system and finally I got it running.

What did you do regarding the PPC part ? I don't feel like reinstalling my whole system.

Palm Hotsync doesn't work anymore in 1.4i, it used to work fine on uphuck 1.3...

It would be nice if there was a ppf just for the PPC changes. It would save a lot of download time and me from having to redo all the tweaks I've already done to my system under 1.4i. It's working great except for the one PPC program that I use...MS Office 2004. Although if no ppf is forthcoming, it's still great that uphuck has come up with an r2 so quickly in response to some concerns. Thanks for the hard work and support.

@Uphuck (and all others who contributed): Thank you very much!

Works like a charm with correct options (although AGPGart 2.x caused a hang on login).

My Behringer FCA202 Firewire audio interface was initially fully supported, but is no longer recognized. Still have to check what the problem is.

Anyone know if it is safe to install Quicktime 7.2 update and Security Update 2007-006?

A solution was given to solve you MS Office 2004 problem.

Thanks for the response. I tried what uphuck suggested several times and it didn't work for me. I have a legit version of 2004 that I use on my Mac Pro and it has worked on every other install I've done. I never tried to use the installer from uphuck's previous discs until I couldn't get mine to work. The problem must lie elsewhere. Some have gotten it to work on v1.4, while others who are fairly computer literate have not. I'm open to other suggestions though. Currently, I'm using Office 2007 in Parallels and that works fine. It's just a matter of wanting my system to be as flawless as possible. Thanks again.

Comment: I see no particular advantage of intentionally designing the OSX release for a "mini-DVD".

I'd request NOT leaving out important "stuff" (such as Rosetta), just to enable making a "mini DVD".

The price of a blank full-size 4.5 Gb DVD is low enough, and blank "mini-DVD's" aren't that common anyway.

I'm guessing this is because of the PPC files but I can't run the following programs with 1.4i (currently downloading 1.4i R2)

Toast 7 Titanium

Microsoft Office 2004

Adobe Photoshop CS3 Design Suite

Remote Desktop

These are the only ones I have found so far that I am unable to run. Should all of this be fixed in the r2 release?

Edit- Although its funny that I was actually able to run Microsoft Office earlier today and then it quit working all the sudden. I don't know if its because of any updates I ran or not. I did run the Apple updates and chose all but the 10.4.10 combo update. There was a security update and itunes and quicktime updates.

Seeing this error in console trying to run Remote Desktop:

353 couldn't load Rosetta Interpose dylib: no suitable image found. Did find:

/usr/libexec/oah/Shims/Interposers.dylib: mach-o, but wrong architecture

and this about Toast:

2007-07-23 11:09:01.400 Console[354] CFLog (21): dyld returns 2 when trying to load /Users/blah/Library/Contextual Menu Items/ToastIt.plugin/Contents/MacOS/ToastIt
