thegodfaza
I installed vista on my pc alongside os x86. It is Vista Ultimate x64 on a custom made pc. Suddenly two days ago my pc (vista) stalls on boot for about 4 minutes, then it boots. I see the little green bars scroll then they stop. Then 4-5 minutes later they start again and everything is fine. I boot normally. I ran disk check and I still have the same problem.
asstastic
sounds like a hardware or driver issue. see if you can boot in a verbose mode and that should help trace what is causing the hangup. just the other day my pal was experiencing terrible load times on his xp machine which also happened to have a broken DVD drive. i disconnected the power on the drive and voila, shaved 3 minutes off his boot times as well as fixed a number of other minor bugs in the OS. i've had slow boot problems in 98 as well using bad network configurations. sev7en
Did you try booting using the safe (default) services? You can disable the new services via Recovery Console.
linuxfan66
I have had similar issues on win98 with a slightly faulty Pentium Pro.
