ColdFusion
According to Think Secret, Apple is planning to release their latest and greatest at or around the WorldWide Developers Conference, which will run June 11th through to the 15th. The release date is later than anticipated, suggesting that Leopard might be a more significant release than expected. The release coincides with new versions of Apple's iLife and iWork suites, which will pack extensive Leopard dependent features and may be bundled for free to help trump Vista. The wealth of new features and improvements in Leopard include: Time Machine (built-in backup software) Re-vamped Apple Mail and iChat Spaces (multiple desktops) More flexible Spotlight searches ...and hopefully some secret features that Apple have been holding back! track09
I hope it's true. It would be wicked cool if they bundled iLife with Leopard! Free upgrade yeah baby yeah! If the EU goes after MS for bundling WMP, Apple may face trouble if trying to do that.

ColdFusion
I hope! I'm leaving for the middle east at the end of june, and was hoping to buy a new Macbook prior to departure. I've been waiting on Leopard though Well if Apple keep to their word of a "spring release", then it has to come out before 21 June. So hopefully you'll be ok

emmab2k6
Any idea how much it will sell for on the apple site ?
Adrian Fogge
Odds are that it will go for the normal $130. Apple has kept that pricing for a rather long time and it really seems to be the sweet spot. If Apple does add the iLife Apps to Leopard, I would really not be surprised if the price went up to $200. It is my impression though that most people do not upgrade their OS until they buy a new computer simply out of a lack of knowledge. Frankly the idea seems to scare the less literate out there. Personally I am having the hardest time trying to get my girl to let me put Tiger on her iBook even though just a few days ago she lost (as in misplaced) a paper she was writing and thought that it was accidentally deleted instead of stored in the other class folder. And if she would have an issue to letting me put an OS that has already been out for nearly 2 years (oh my god! it has been a long time!)... I don't know. Well, take that as you may. I think that their major sales will come from new purchases simply because ZFS is certain to be a MAJOR part of the new OS and it can certainly be pretty difficult to convince someone to reformat their hard disk no matter how many bullet points you put on the side of the box or tools that you add to "guarentee" that everything will be okay. There are still people out there who have an issue using Migration Assistant to copy their Applications and perfer to redownload/reinstall even when everything is up to date. ~Adrian
