seca
Recentaly at my school A friend and i were toying around trying to unlock our mac HD so we could screw around with files and such. I'm unsure of the OS version but this is what we think a secrity glitch. With the app Terminal and the hidden file located within the dir /var called Bash. Without admin access the terminal will not open and run without opening it with bash....as it "bashes" the terminal...or something. We think the only reason we can use terminal with bash with no crashes is because we are administed by a network server(airports) and when we turn our airport connection off and reboot we can install programs that dont need admin accses(like the HD which is read only for our accounts). So we have thought that it must be this that bugs the computer that lets us install programs. This is not the cool part tho. The cool part is that once you open bash with terminal it will say "the administrator has se your shell to an illegel value" The you can "Cancel" or "terminate". Then click "cancel" and the window will stay open!! YOUR IN TERMINAL WITHOUT PREMISSION Then if you have a darwin account in your computer then type this into terminal "passwd darwin" the next line will say this "new password -your account name-" simply push "enter" then this text shall display "old password" once agian just push enter the last text will be "new password" enter whatever yuou want the new darwin password to be. This also works with thr root account(and you need the root account to reverese the effects if you didnt know the orginal password). It only works with darwin and Root no other admin accounts as far as we know. I will later in another post explain how to reverse the effects....well in fact your going to crash your comeputer. Then whoever administres your computer will have to re-image the computer...therefore resetting the password and they never know. HAPPY HACKING! questions? Ask away I will also be posting a guild to installing windows 3.1 and any OS that runs in DOS mode on a computer you cant install programs on. Crashing your computer to reset everything is a simple thing to do. Go into the root account------>system pref's------>startup disk's------->network select that will make the computer permnatly boot in netboot untill the computer is re-imaged or connected to a network. Dr. Heckles
You have zero clue how UNIX or it's security works. There is no weakness here. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/46319-acess-priv-hackmod/#findComment-331854 Share on other sites
Suzuran
Also, your sysadmin is an idiot if you can guess root's password. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/46319-acess-priv-hackmod/#findComment-333163 Share on other sites
Suzuka
Also, your sysadmin is an idiot if you can guess root's password. This is going to sound sad, but the admin/root password for my schools computers is "administrator" Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/46319-acess-priv-hackmod/#findComment-333299 Share on other sites
