josh256
What I backed up before running the update: /mach_kernel /System/Library/Extensions/AppleSMBIOS.kext /System/Library/Extensions/IOATAFamily.kext After running the update: I backed up the new unpatched kernel, restored my backed up [semthex] version and restored the two kexts. Deleted /System/Library/Extensions.mkext and /System/Library/Extensions.kextcache (likely not needed), repaired permissions and rebooted. Comments: I'm not certain all these steps were necessary (EG: 10.4.9 may not knockout AppleSMBIOS.kext and IOATAFamily.kext like 10.4.8 did). If you haven't had to patch any of the existing nic/audio/video kexts you likely have nothing to worry about - if you have patched kexts (vs. new kexts such as titan) I'd recommend backing those up beforehand as well.
