I have recently completed intalling mac os X86 10.4.7 on my Lenovo T60.

Beside the wireless card (Intel 3945) and the Audio Input, everything works.

The next step is to get a legal copy of mac os X86 10.4.8 and install it.

Questions:

1. Does any one know what is the policy of Apple about this?

2. Where I can buy a legal copy of the O.S.?

3. Is the CD sold with an original mac bootable?

Thanks for any help.

I'm sorry to say, but the intel version of apple's operation system, only runs legally on macs. Apple at this time and most likely forever will not allow non macs to run mac software with their consent. So asking for a legal copy of OS X86 is sorta an oxymoron.

You would think that after a few hundred posts exactly like this one that people would learn.

Lets put it this way...

Apple makes OS X so that they can sell their hardware.

They want to sell their hardware.

As long as people can only get OS X on Apple hardware, they will keep buying Apple hardware.

OS X is Apple's major bargaining chip, it is what keeps them in business, and it bugs the {censored} out of Apple.

That is why Apple is trying to get away from the "Computer as the center" of their market.

They make tons of money off of the iPod, but if their computer sales disapeared; over night Apple would die.

Well, Apple fanboys shouting "Apple is a hardware company" aside, the situation as I know it where I am, (and I guess it varies around the globe) is this:

There is only 1 retail Tiger you can buy: 10.4.6 PowerPC. Buying this doesn't give you a license for anything X86, but makes you a "nice guy" for giving back to Apple.

So, that being the case, any installation of OS X on a non-apple machine involves breaking at least copyright laws at some point in order to do so.

(this is without even going into the validity of EULA's which varies from country to country)

There has been much talk of the prospect of Apple releasing Tiger X86 without the DRM & with a total support disclaimer when leopard is released. Although I suspect this is wishful thinking, the marketing effect of osx86 cannot be denied, and this move, giving the "old version" to PC users would strengthen that still further, whilst working as a massive incentive to buy a mac & get the full leopard experience.

Microsoft makes a money NOT to sell hardware, but OS and software for hardware.Gates learn that long time ago.Wozniak just getting to it that selling properiaty system to not pay that is why the Apple relise Intel version. Now Apple owner can run a Windows software and Apple thinking of getting the piece of pie.

Every stick have 2 ends.

If Apple would not try to get into Microsoft bussines(software) they will stick with their own properiaty system and eventually vanish as Vista emerge treating the Apple.I personally preffer other that Windows OS, but since I have HP Pavilon dv9008nr and spend a lot of money on it - I would like to use it any way possible.

Unfortunatelly - some of software are only for windows.

NO ONE it is stealing a piece of software what it is not working properly with available hardware.Experimenting it is a way to learn and advance.

I never had Apple computer and have no idea what can do for me and I can not afford second laptop(or desctop).

If more people with non-apple hardware will be able to use OS X the apple will eventually revert decision and make more money to sell OS.

Milions of PC users could switch to OS X if Apple will not be stubborn.Think about the profit Apple could make.

We all are doing a Apple favor ,by experimenting with own hardware.

You do not see a Microsoft condemning a Apple user to run Microsoft software.

We do not come to this forum to be judge, but for help to learn something new and experimnet.

Thank you.
