has anyone been brave enough to try installing 10.4.10 on their m1210?
Hi, I have updated to 10.4.10. Everything is fine except wireless (I don't want to buy a new wireless card), sleep, built-in card reader, and camera.Another problem I met is how to switch screen between CRT display and LCD. I tried to use the functon key, but it doesn't work. Thanks
yeah I know what you mean. it's useless and quite annoying but seems to be the only way to get sleep to work. I'll try to get into the forums and see if the creator will make a special one for XPS systems. in the mean time i'm gonna go to disney for a weeek so i may not be on the forums much. so everyone keep up the good work.Unresolved Issues:Dual CoreDual Viewfirewiretrackpad scrolling.better sleep fix
How's your camera? does it work well? Thanks

Hi all , thanks for the guide. I did everything to specs and all was going great untill...I did the dual core fix under the kernel flags...when I rebooted after enabling the dual core in the BIOS , at boot up it would tell me cannot fine cpu=1 platform=x86pc....I use the Jar AMD intel sse2 sse3 + PPF1 & PPF2.iso. What should I do, just try reinstalling with the dualcore enable? Can I fix the installation? Thanks

How many people have video out (vga external display) working? I installed on my m1210 from the 10.4.8 JAS AMD SSE2 SSE3 dvd and everything works fine, it even installed Natit/Titan and power management, so I was stoked, but I can't get VGA out to work on it. I tried installing Natit universal, but it booted up to that crazy resolution of 400 by 800, so I reinstalled and everything is kosher, but I still want dual displays. Any tips? What is the dif between Natit and Titan? Is one for Ati and the other for NV?

Man I am struggling with the same issue....I can live with the no speakers but I must have the VGA out. I used the JaS SSE3 with ppf1 and ppf2 iso file which installs Titan. I installed the natit universal intaller didn't work. I deleted the titan.kext now I get unknown nvidia in system profiler. Help someone...

OK, I have tried everthing that I know/understand how to do to get my external monitor to work.Installed Titan, nothing, intalled Natit dual v.02, nothing, screwed up my titan.kext file....nothing. I am willing to re-install again, but this time I will not install the titan Drivers , but install the dual natitv0.2. But I need to know, as anyone succesfully managed to use they external monitor? If so please , please, share your info. I really would like to use OSX as my main OS but working with 12" sucks , big time... ;)

I am using Jas sse2,sse3 amd and intel with ppf1& ppf2.iso image. Should I use a different one perhaps? Thank you for your help.

external vga does not work. at all. unless you are a crazy hacker/programmer its probably never going to work. no one that has an m1210 has it working. s-video out does work however. but thats not what you want

In case anyone cares i got scrolling to work well with this filehttp://www.nada.kth.se/~jobjo/FFScrollPS2-0.1.RC1.tar.gz

and this guide

Download the RC1 version and extract it to the desktopDownload Onyx if you haven't done already, and make hidden files and folders visibleOpen up the folder extracted on the desktop, inside you'll find three folders: Library, System, usr.Open up Library, inside again three folders.PreferencePanes, the content inside this folder goes to: OS partition/Library/PreferencePanes/Preferences, the content inside this folder goes to: OS partition/Library/Preferences/StartupItems, the content inside this folder goes to: OS partition/Library/StartupItems/Go to: OS partition/System/Library/Extensions/, and copy ApplePS2Controller.kext to the desktop.Right click on ApplePS2Controller.kext and show package contents, open Contents/Plugins/Now replace the ApplePS2Trackpad.kext inside the plugins folder, with the one from the downloaded /System/Library/Extensions/ApplePS2Controller/Contents/Plugins/ApplePS2Trackpad.kextCopy the ApplePS2Controller.kext from the desktop back to: OS partition/System/Library/Extensions/ and overwrite.Open up Terminal and enter following codes, one line at a time, and not what's between ( and ):Sudo -s (Will ask for password)chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/ApplePS2Controller.kextfind /System/Library/Extensions/ApplePS2Controller.kext -type d -exec chmod 755 {} \;find /System/Library/Extensions/ApplePS2Controller.kext -type f -exec chmod 644 {} \;diskutil repairpermissions /exit(close terminal)Now go to the extracted folder again, open up usr/local/bin/ and copy the content to: OS partition/usr/local/binTo be sure everything works on the second reboot, just repair diskpermissions again with diskutil.

Thanks for the reply, I thought I was one of the few that couldn't get the external to work. Turns out that the intel video does work so...I guess I will build a new hackingtosh... :(

basically all you need anymore is

uphuck dvd 1.4(has most everything included anymore and installs it automatically except audio)

sigmatel patch (audio)

change the preferences plist (change fsb=166 for audio and cpus=1

install speedstep (for sleep or cpu change.)

Boom you are done really quick.

we need someone smart like you to fix the dualcore and camera.

Well i don't get yet if sleep and speedstep is fixed. If it's fixed it could be great to have a mini-tutorial. Is it possible to upgrade to 10.4.10, i remember that all was fine with 10.4.9. Ah, another thing... How can I dualboot with vista?

I tried dual booting vista and i had no luck. Why bother with 10.4.10 I'm just waiting for uphuck to release a leopard.

here is stuff you need for speed step and instructions included SpeedStep

I just use the autoinstaller but i couldn't find you a link to it. and it works fine for me.

There is one way i saw to dual boot vista and OSX. In my case it seems the partitioning is the problem. So if you install Vista on a hard drive. connect it to a mac or linux or something that can read NTFS via enclosure. then drag all the contents to your hard drive on the other computer. then reformat 2 FAT32 partitions on the hard drive in the external enclosure. drag all the files back to the second partition. then install osx on the first partition. In theory it should let you dual boot. But i'm not sure.

I have working:

-wifi (bought dell 1349) (and it works GGGGREAT!)

-Sound (used a newer apple HDA patcher and diffrent txt)

-Natit 0.2 (now my display runs at 1200 x 800)

-speed step

I used:

-Uphuck 10.4.9 v1.4 (lots of nice install packages)

Now i just need to see if i can get a copy of ilife '06 on discount

and see if it works!

Great guide!

If u need a quick and simple explanation on how to do it just give a hollar.

BBTW - i did not use any other software to get the dual boot working other that easyBCD (which is great and freee)

Best of luck to all and long live the hackintosh!

a guide on that would be appreciated if you could post it here that would be great. me myself i'd never use it because vista is the devil. I hate it with a passion. slow slow slow. glitchy. inconvenient. explorer sucks. just gross operating system.

Does the Dell 1390 wifi card can be installed in the XPS M1330 ?

What did you do to enable speaker output, I have sound only from headphones.

Kept trying and success! Turns out that the Dell 1490 card is 14e4,4312 which is already in the IO80211Family.kext package, soooooo.....

I moved onwards to editing the /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/NetworkInterfaces.plist file as suggested in other threads (change en0 to en1 and the 0 to a 1 a few lines down), rebooted and Airport is working like a charm -

This little laptop continues to amaze me. So I am now using the Intel 3945 card in WLAN card slot in Windows and the Dell 1490 card in the WWAN slot in OS X. The best of both worlds. I guess if you plan on putting a WWAN card in then this config for your dual boot Windows/OS X lappy is not for you, but I don't see that happening for me anytime soon since I just Bluetooth connect through my Treo when I need cell data access.

Cheers!

Maybe I can put the 1490 in the wwan slot too ;)

1) i did not use demonoid or an invite only site so i do not have invitations to give... :hysterical: 2) I used the apple hda patcher and sigmatel txt file, however, i applied an audio patch that came with uphuck v1.4 for audio and use alternative patchers and txts than the one here3) Dual boot guide: Will put in next reply!

Not sure, check the dell parts site, but it did say "for XPS M1210" so you would have to do more research

EASY VISTA + DUAL BOOT GUIDE

A few easy steps and before you know you've got thebest and worst operating systems on the market on thesame PC!

*You will lose any data that is not backed up*

1) use the vista partitioner (in OS), an ubuntu or linux distro CD, orany other partitioner to create the following:-at least 12gb partition for vista in NFTS format-at least 8gb partition for OSX in FAT32 format

2)go ahead and boot into your osx install disk

3) use the disk manager to format OSX partition into OSX (journaled)

4) install your packages of choice, mess around with OSX for a few minutes and then shut down and boot into your VISTA disk

5) instead of installing vista, go to your other options on the disk (commandline, repair installation etc)

6) go into command line and do the following:-diskpart-list disk-(select your disk)-list part(select your vista partition)-type "active" (without quotes) or "set active" if that does not work

7) go ahead and install vista and you should be able to boot into it.8)You will temporarily not be able to use OSX but fear not, just a few steps more

9) Download easyBCD 1.7 (or higher) (just google it)10) use easyBCD to add the OSX bootloader to your list of boot loaders.

11) reboot, and BAM! You now have a dual boot setup for MAC OSX 86 and Windows VISTA! :)
