As for log, it seems very interesting, because driver sends not only broadcast ARP requests, but direct ARP requests. It seems, that you have several internet connections. But all rx packets was discarded. I've requested Attansic L1 datasheet from Atheros.

I have tried to manually set ip as 192.168.0.1/255.255.255.0 and ping another pc in my net with ip 192.168.0.2

speed settings are: 10/100, FD/HD, 1000/FD and auto.

ping responses was "no route to host" and "host is down".

icy Such IP says to me, that you have another home machine. It useful for testing, cause windows usually immediately reports a new link speed, when it changes. So can you check you second machine, when changes a link speed on mac (at different speeds and autonegotiation)?

I have tried different speed and duplex settings, but another pc always shows 100Mb/FD connection.

Yet another interested party here - just installed 10.4.8 on my new P5B-E and the on-board ethernet is the one thing not working at the moment (nor are my two Netgear cards - FA310 + FA311).

I'll definitely try to help with the testing as soon as I have my machine completely set up.

Here's my log for the latest driver (Post #51). Not sure how much of the log you need, so I cut it off arbitrarily. I changed network settings a few times – it seemed to auto-acquire an IP address but pinging my router and my other machine didn't work. Also kept getting a cable unplugged message.

Incidentally, I can't seem to get my old Netgear cards to work (they did work once - with a very old release of tiger), so I'm really hoping you'll get things working here :->

don't know much about configuring the network in mac os x but i tried (from my linux experience)

ifconfig en0 up

ifconfig en0 address 192.x.x.x/24

and i got invalid address (from the fast scan of the man page it seem the right usage for ifconfig)

Network config is done through the 'network' item in system preferences - not via command line.

I've tried that now. I have a SMC router. I've tried DHCP but the IP adress was wrong. Then I've tried manual settings, but I couldn't ping the router.

I've got "JaS.10.4.8.AMD.Intel.SSE2.SSE3.iso" installed on the following machine:

Asus P5B-E, Intel Core2Duo E6600 (2x2.4 GHz), 3 GB RAM (Kingston), nVidia GeForce 7600GT.

After the successful installation I can see all my SATA drives (AHCI mode) and DVD-RW at JMicron controller. AttansicL1Ethernet.kext was installed yielding no errors. Network controller has been detected and running properly. But I stlill couldn't connect to network, only ping myself (static IP 192.168.xx.xx). Here the log:

If you see receive interrupts (rx), that means link is up, Link is down it's a misreporting. I will continue work on driver later.

try using the 'loaddebug.sh' script. this will load the kext for testing.

note: the current .kext is only for testing - it does not work.

zedzed If I said it will be done, so sooner or later it will be done. Unfortunately now I have no time for it :lol: And of course driver is open source, and another programmer can fix it.

I don't see how lack of an Ethernet card is holding anyone back. 2 of the 3 PCI Ethernet cards I have laying around work with no drivers needed in either Win or OSX. The "Lame" comment is well Lame! It will be nice to get it working one day but no big Deal.

at first, many thanks about driver developer. Here is a new tester. Without LAN the mac os is not so beautifull....:-)

Here is my Hardware:

Asus P5B-E with ATI x1950pro. So, I am a guy with fine windows hardware but not so fine apple hardware.

Get a cheap realtek or intel lan card. both are completely supported.
