ajaybhadresa
Hi all, I have a Sony SZ1VP and so far I have managed to fix everything. I'm aware that the Intel built in wireless isn't compatible so I've ordered a Dell 1390 Mini PCI card. However, how do I fit it?!?! Please help! Thanks, Ajay
lars
I have been able to solve the geforce 7400go support on the Sony Vaio. No different resolutions, neither CI & QE, but it works :-) Simply copy all the NVDA*.kext and GeForce*.* from 10.4.3 /System/Library/Extensions and copy them to your 10.4.8 /System/Library/Extensions and you get your Sony Vaio screen working fine :-)

Currently I'm using an USB Wireless but I thouht also about buying and native supported Mini PCI card to replace my installed 3945 wireless card. Jamespopz
Whatz up, I have a Sz460n/c and I am ready to pull my hair out of my head. I first used appleazila (or however you spell it)...this allowed me to use the volume controls for my nonexistant speaker output, then I tried a few diffrent codec dumps for appleHDA patcher, still nothing. Will the order in which I did these things affect my ability to fix the audio problem? And if not how can I get sound kickin? Thanks, Jamespopz
JeroenJ
Jamespopz, you first need to know which type your soundchip is, then you can search for a good patch
Jamespopz
I know that it is a SigmaTel and this is what I have in the hardware id line HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_8384&DEV_7662&SUBSYS_104D0700&REV_1002 if that helps.
JeroenJ
you have the same card as I do I think, look in this thread I have it posted here! PS: there is hope again for us VAIO users which can't get the LCD to work with an nVidia card!! Read here: http://forum.osx86scene.com/viewtopic.php?f=74&t=1627 the more testers, the better results we could get! I'm going to test some stuff out as soon as possible too
Jamespopz
I might be blind or dumb or something but I could not find your post on the dump...could you plz post it again or put the post number, I would do it myself but I am not sure how to do a linux dump and I am not sure what you would need to change, but thanks for helping me out! Myzrael
You need to run Linux from a live CD (try Ubuntu) and do lspci as root in the command line. Typing "sudo lspci" for example will work. That will tell you what soundcard you have. You'll have to look a bit but you'll find it. You need to know the exact version of the card , not just the brand. After you know that, just make a post here and we'll help you further.
Jason_Thames
I might be blind or dumb or something but I could not find your post on the dump...could you plz post it again or put the post number, I would do it myself but I am not sure how to do a linux dump and I am not sure what you would need to change, but thanks for helping me out! James, you have a Sigmatel STAC7661 audio chipset (All VAIO SZ units have this chipset). Use the Taruga patcher version 1.16 with the dump I have attached. This should work for you. --Jason SonyVaioSZ3XPcodec0.txt
JeroenJ
If that dump isn't working for you I will post mine! I'm still searching how I could my sound connectors on my dock working! I found out that the Optical jack is recognised by Ubuntu, I'll buy an optical sound cable one of these days to test it on my reciever! Annyways, if there is somebody with an FE or SZ using a dock and got his 3.5mm jack working, please tell me how you did! Damn, I've got the OSx86-fever again
Jamespopz
After getting the information from ubuntu the audio line looks like this 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller (rev 02) I am not sure if this is the right information, but it is I think the only thing I could find...also I tried to use the HDA patcher with attached patch, but that did not work out. Thanks for taking the time to try to help me out! OH Also should I install just the applehda and not play with the azzalla (spelling wrong) patch, and I I do the AppleHDA will the volume controls appear as they did with the azilla patch? JeroenJ
Jamespopz, please try the attached one (sigmatel.txt) just drag it into Taruga's patcher's icon if that doesn't work, try the 'stac9225.txt' ona. If that still doesn't work, download Ubuntu and run the live cd. In ubuntu run this code in terminal: cat /proc/asound/card0/codec#0 and use your generated dump STAC9225.txt sigmatel.txt
Jamespopz
What do i do about the azillza patch now that I have tried to install it should I not worry (meaning will the applehda patch overwrite it) or do you think I will have to reinstall the os... I'll try tonight
JeroenJ
Dunno how to remove that patch, I don't know which files it edit! Reinstalling may be the best option... if I knew what files you've messed with I could try to help you hehe annyways, resinstall OSX and try the codec dumps in the order I said in my last post, if it then doesn't work, I don't know how to help you PS: Do you use a docking station ? As for now, I could not make my sound jack working on my dock! So if you use one, please unplug your sound cable

JeroenJ
Good news! Finally got sound working on my docking station. It's a bit of a workaround but it works even better I have a spdif out on my dock and an spdif in on my reciever. just bought an optical fibre cable to connect both, and voila, I've got perfect sound with Taruga's patcher though the stereo jack on my dock still doesn't work, but that's not such a big problem for me since I use my front audio connector PS: price of those optical fibre cables is rather high. I saw cables that cost 120€ for 1m.... I've got a cheap one.. 30€ for 3m.. Annyways, this is for all other vaio users that have a dock (don't think there are a lot out there )
