arsix
has anybody experienced dramatically decreased battery life on their laptops when running MACOSX? Im running the JaS version 10.4.8, everything essential besides sound and wireless works, however my battery life has decreased to 1.5 hours!!! I didnt notice this because i was running my laptop on my AC adapter, but the other day I decided to test battery life and without running any applications (just sitting still on the lowest brightness) my battery was that bad. Am i missing something important here, or is this a normal cost of running the MACOSX ? Ps. my laptop is a COMPAQ PRESARIO V3016US, Intel centrino duo 1.6 GHz 2050 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/38086-battery-life-sucks/ Share on other sites
frizbot
ACPICPUThrottle.kext no longer works on 10.4.8. It's what uses speedstep to decrease the CPU clock to save battery. Many laptop users are waiting on a fix for this. It is discussed here- http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...4915&st=360 You could downgrade to 10.4.7 and install that kext, but that is a downgrade and other hardware may have issues with it. arsix
does the battery life in 10.4.7 is comparable to the battery life you would get under windows? if so i'll switch to 10.4.7 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/38086-battery-life-sucks/#findComment-273441 Share on other sites
