Luciferin
It's some part of iChat that runs in the background apparently managing your connections. Your buddy list will apear and your preferences window will apear, but you will not be able to connect to any services, etc. Don't install. Why did it break? Are future updates going to break other "core" OS X apps? westep23
Did that, without luck. Its still giving the same error, ofcourse, im on amd. Any ideas?? Um Check in the text file and search for iChatAgent. If it's not in there you may need to get a different cpuid patcher. Also I'm using the TubeGirl Release w/the ppf, not final. So Final, and Jas's Release may have diffrent results. Oh and i havn't had any trouble with X11 update's ever. But YMMV. Edit: One more thing just in case. You need to be in single user mode to run the patch. CoolBits
It is safe for intel but you needt to patch iChat Agent.app on AMD... its located in /Library/Frameworks/InstantMessaging.framework or similar... (not on mac now) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/38032-ichat-update-universal-10/#findComment-280015 Share on other sites
BillyBlue77
Hi! I also installed the iChat Update on my AMD by accident with the same consequences. I already tried to run the CPUID patcher ./patcher -v amd_1048_new.txt but it didn't solve the problem. Can somebody please explain how to patch iChatAgent.app? Thx in advance! CoolBits
Copy/paste this to the end of your amd_1048_new.txt /System/Library/Frameworks/InstantMessage.framework/iChatAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/iChatAgent 000025d0 0000e3a6 cpuid 0002ee61 cpuid and then again run ./patcher amd_1048_new.txt from patcher dir It should now patch new iChatAgent for AMD cpu Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/38032-ichat-update-universal-10/#findComment-302729 Share on other sites
BillyBlue77
Thanks a lot, coolbits! You saved my day. Didn't work in the first try because the patcher has to be run as root/su.
