Alex Oughton
It's that time of year again, and with the rumor mill spinning as fast as ever, SetteB.IT have posted an interesting set of behind-the-scenes photos from the setup for this year's Macworld. InsanelyMac as always will be steering clear of some of the more 'dubious' rumors doing the rounds this year, but look forward to a complete roundup of all of the facts after this year's keynote from Steve Jobs. Until then, let's all just salivate over this photo set...
Simania_NL
This new front page add on the apple.com website makes me wonder what they're up to. I find it a little daring statement to say the least.

pyrates
Someone I know who works in shipping said they recieved a high number of shipments, more then the usual amount, of apple products. But they weren't allowed to open the boxes at all to count the number of products in their to be sure none were missing. So Apple is definately launching either an ipod update or their rumoured ipod with cell phone capabilities product. Just thought I'd let everyone know. Here's the convo by the way: <+xxxxx1> i've got some news... i work at a freight company up in canada and we handle stuff for apple... this past week, we had 5x the usual volume of apple freight we handle <+xxxxx1> i guess they are coming out with something HUGE <+xxxxx2> xxxxx1: did u take a peak inside the apple boxes? <+xxxxx1> xxxxx2: they were sealed inside crates <+xxxxx2> xxxxx1: darn, thought u could be an inside source <+xxxxx1> xxxxx2: usually we are supposed to do an item/package count to make sure that the number on the packing list and the actual number of items match... we were not allowed to do that this time round <+xxxxx2> xxxxx1: damn, apple has control of everything <+xxxxx2> xxxxx1: put it on an xray machine, see what is inside it <+xxxxx1> xxxxx2: we didn't even get the packing list... alll we were told that there are supposed to be this many skids of these dimensions weighing this many pounds <+xxxxx2> damn lol <+xxxxx1> xxxxx2: all of those are scheduled for monday evening delivery to the various stores... some even late night <+xxxxx2> xxxxx1: oh man, now we all know apple is announcing something <+xxxxx1> xxxxx2: i had exactly the same feeling <+xxxxx1> xxxxx2: and it's gonna be HUGE <+xxxxx2> xxxxx1: I would sense that <+xxxxx2> xxxxx1: so it had the weight of it on the box? <+xxxxx1> xxxxx2: i have no idea how many boxes there were in the skids... usually we have that number to make sure nothing went missing in transit <+xxxxx1> xxxxx2: most of the apple freight we handle are less than 5 lbs. per piece I've taken out the actual nicks here so that no one gets in trouble of course

Lostgame
I dunno, the iTV seems kinda...not what I'm looking forward to at all. I have absolutely no interest in it whatsoever.
kevin_4e
A new iPod would be very great with all the Christmas money of mine I'm also not too thrilled about iTV unless they introduce something really inovative. Can anyone refresh me on the 20th anniversary?

GBK.Xscape
yea but for some reason i think the iphone or new ipod would not that muich of a success i think it would be a hit at first like the zune but will not sustain a good amount of sales because at the time something as complete as the iphone wouldnt be able to hold as many songs as a an ipod should hold, at least 5,000 IMHO. Alex Oughton
Personally I don't care what gets announced as long as there's something a bit concrete on Leopard. A launch date would be nice.
Takuro
Someone I know who works in shipping said they recieved a high number of shipments... Nice job. You made it onto the front page of Digg without actually releasing any information whatsoever. Welcome to the land of pre-Macworld fanboy hype. But on a serious note: I doubt it's going to be an iPod or a cell phone. From what I've heard, Apple still doesn't have anything set up as far as service providers and actual calling plans. If there really is a big shipment coming in, we might be in store for a bit of a surprise. Either Apple miraculously finished the new "true video" iPod in time for Mac World, or it's something else that hasn't even been mentioned yet. This particular Mac World is obviously a lot bigger than the annual summer Keynote. Apple's really going to go "all out" because it's their 30th birthday. I'd expect Leopard to be shipping a little ahead of schedule, plus some other hardware-related goodies. The only thing I'm 100% certain of is a new iLife and iWork (probably under different names. They're moving away from using the "i" prefix to everything.) It's basically guarenteed since new releases have been introduced at Mac World every single year. Takuro
Now there's a last-minute rumor that Steve Jobs will be making an announcement regarding the use of Blu-Ray discs and other high-definition technology in some upcoming products. Some are even going as far as to say that Apple will make its own HDTV set. Apparently the big theme for this Mac World is Leopard, and how it brings us "into the future" of high-definition content along with tons of features that will make it, yet again, "the world's most advanced operating system." The successor to iLife '06 is supposedly going to be a whopper too, allowing people to add even more flare to their computer's media library. All of this will be streamable to "iTV." iWeb will be overhauled. iWork won't be left out. It'll see some fun new features with a greatly revamped version of Keynote, taking advantage of Core Animation for "mind blowing" effects that will put Powerpoint 2007 to shame. Just goes to show how well Apple protected any solid tips from leaking through. All we have are a sea of rumors to wade through. It's going to be interesting to see which actually were (somewhat) correct, and what announcements will totally elude anybody's guess. kevin_4e
MACulas, there will be no live video stream but a video should make it up onto Apple.com shortly after the presentation. Probably a couple hours afterwards. Many sites will be providing updates but no live video. At lesat that's what I've read.
maculas
Ouch!
