...mr.pnd.dekster...
Hi ! I have the same black menus problems. someone please help us all. I think something wrong with transparency. If boot in safe mode with -x menus back to normal. I`m using jccool 10.5.1 driver. 10.5.2 driver not working for me. Distr leo4allv3.
Bucklo
My problems have been resolved. I used Leo4allv3 final and selected the x1000 series drivers during install. After the installation I downloaded and installed Apple Graphics Update 1.0. My x1900 xtx is now fully recognized with rotation, qe, and all resolutions. No more black menus or mouse tearing. DeadSinn
Hi all. I have a problem with leopard package =D I finally installed leopard with success using kalyway 10.5.2 after too much failed tentative. My Graphic Card is an Ati X1950XT ( 7244 ) I tried to download and install the jccool Package for Leopard 10.5.2 Efi and Not. I tried both, but the resalts is same: Screen to 1280x1024 ( and my native resolution is 1680x1050 ) and no Hardware Acceleration =( Im Using EfiPatch v80 Model Name: Mac Pro Model Identifier: MacPro3,1 Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo Processor Speed: 2.4 GHz Number Of Processors: 1 Total Number Of Cores: 2 L2 Cache: 4 MB Memory: 2 GB Bus Speed: 1.07 GHz Boot ROM Version: BOOT.EFI.V80 Display: Type: Display Bus: PCIe PCIe Lane Width: x16 VRAM (Total): 256 MB Vendor: ATI (0x1002) Device ID: 0x7244 Revision ID: 0x0000 Kernel Extension Info: No Kext Loaded Displays: Display: Resolution: 1280 x 1024 Depth: 32-bit Color Core Image: Software Main Display: Yes Mirror: Off Online: Yes Quartz Extreme: Not Supported How can i resolve this issue ? =( Thanks =D
iamwithstupid
My problems have been resolved. I used Leo4allv3 final and selected the x1000 series drivers during install. After the installation I downloaded and installed Apple Graphics Update 1.0. My x1900 xtx is now fully recognized with rotation, qe, and all resolutions. No more black menus or mouse tearing. I'm a total noob at this but is it possible to: 1. Download that specific driver somehow (x1000 series drivers) 2. Install it post osx install (installed with no drivers at all) I use Kalyways 10.5.2 Vanilla kernel (on core2duo) ATI x1900xt at the moment with mouse artifacts and worthless resolution (i need 1600x1200) Also... explain really simple because im total beginner with OSX systems. Thanks (EDIT: also tried JCcools VGA driver thing... slightly better than nothing but there has to be a way right?)
Bucklo
Hi "iamwithstupid", Unfortunately, my experience only goes as far as the Leo4All v3 build. Have you tried installing Apple Graphics Update 1.0?
iamwithstupid
Yes. I've installed it a couple of times in all the reinstalls of the OSX. Shouldn't there be about the same drivers on all releases? Even if it's not im more happy to switch if you got it to work. Which kernel did you use? ... and also (since I'm a total noob at OSX) Is there a way to install a driver from the DVD after the OSXinstall, or do I have to pick the right one in the beginning? A.T.M. in the info it says: Kernel Extention Info : No Kext Loaded... Whatever that means.
iamwithstupid
Ok, now I'm able to boot with good results: ATI Radeon X1900 XT: Chipset Model: ATY,RadeonX1900 Type: Display Bus: PCIe Slot: Slot-1 PCIe Lane Width: x16 VRAM (Total): 512 MB Vendor: ATI (0x1002) Device ID: 0x7249 Revision ID: 0x0000 ROM Revision: ATYinject X1900 0.0.1 EFI Driver Version: "01.00.140" Displays: SyncMaster: Resolution: 1600 x 1200 @ 60 Hz Depth: 32-bit Color Core Image: Hardware Accelerated Main Display: Yes Mirror: Off Online: Yes Quartz Extreme: Supported Rotation: Supported Display Connector: Status: No display connected But the only way to get it to boot is by: -s mount -uw / /movevideodrivers I also managed to get it to boot without that but only ONCE just after applying tha "graphicsupdate1.0-patch". The next boot after that I caught a bluescreen again. Suggestions anyone? Is it a bad idea and use the "-s mount......" bootoption all the time? And if not is there a way to automaticly get it to boot that way? Thanks
MaDxCrEaM
anyone update to 10.5.3 yet? Will it break my Sapphire X1950XT(id7244) qe/ci res support?

ddrdark
you should try to add your device ID to the ATI kext
shamman
My ID (0x7244) is present in ATIRadeonX1000.kext… Or you tell about another kext? (Sorry for my english)
setlursh
If you do install 10.5.3, you can regain QE/CI by re-installing the jccool 10.5.2 NON-EFI update. This, in combination with GFX and Audio EFI strings, gave me QE/CI back. While not an ideal solution, it will provide hardware acceleration until we can develop an updated fix based upon the 10.5.3 kexts. Hope this helps setlursh
chris3g
I'm not having much success with 10.5.3. Adding the device ID to the 10.5.3 kext and using the EFI string results in a freeze at the spinning wheel during startup (or with -v, i get a cursor over the page of text and it stops there), installing the 10.5.1 jcool ver 3 package gives me QE/CI but i get the black menu problem, and then updating that with the 10.5.2 NON-EFI update makes my system boot to a blank blue screen with a line accross the the top Right now i'm using the ver 3 package with the standard 10.5.3 ATIRadeonX1000.kext so at least this way i have resolution and readable menus although no hardware QE/CI. shamman
Friends, I have got my qe/ci back. So, you can try this solution too. Firstly, I've restored original Apple files from 10.5.3 update package (ATIRadeonX1000.kext, ATIRadeonX1000GA.plugin, ATIRadeonX1000GLDriver.bundle, ATIRadeonX1000VADriver.bundle and ATIRNDRV.kext) using Pacifist. Then I've edited original ATIRadeonX1000.kext and manually add to Info.plist my cards ID (0x72441002). But after repairing permissions and reboot I have no qe/ci So I've tried this solution from Bronya (see the first post): sudo -s also enter the password root! chown -R 0:0 /system/library/extensions chmod -R 755 /system/library/extensions rm /system/library/extensions.mkext rm /system/library/extensions.kextcache kextcache -k -z /system/library/extensions And it did work for me Now I have Leo 10.5.3 and full qe/ci support:

macmaniac
THANK YOU SHAMMAN! This is confirmed working for me. I had 10.5.2 with EFI gfx strings all working well. Installed 10.5.3 update dmg, as per netkas, then reinstalled .kexts particular to my mobo, then rebooted. Result 10.5.3 without CI/QE Applied SHAMMAN/BRONYA fix: 1. sudo -s [password] 2. nano /System/Library/Extensions/ATIRadeonX1000.kext/Contents/Info.plist 3. edit device ID 7244 4. chown -R 0:0 /system/library/extensions 5. chmod -R 755 /system/library/extensions 6. rm /system/library/extensions.mkext 7. rm /system/library/extensions.kextcache NB. I got a file not found error. I kinda knew there was no kextcache. 8. kextcache -k -z /system/library/extensions REBOOT! into working CI/QE~! Cheers!
