I got a new AMD machine, that should be able to run OS X86, but doesn't. It doesn't even install. What happens is I put the disk in, darwin loader boots up, but then I get the "You need to reboot this machine" message, with another message on the top of the screen saying

"panic (cpu) caller 0x00399ca3) :unable to find driver for this platform : "ACPI"

There are debug values under it, but I didn't feel the need to write it down, but if I need to I will. My system specs are

AMD Athlon 64 3400+ @ 2.2 ghz Socket 939

869 mb DDR PC3200

ATI Xpress 200 128 mb shared

Realtek HD audio(Soon to be Audigy or Audigy 2)

ASUS A8R-MX

So, any thoughts?

I'm having exactly the same problem since I switched Motherboards yesterday from an ASUS M2V-TVM to an ASUS M2V.

AMD 64 3600+

1 Gb DDR2

ATI 1650

SATA and IDE drives (SATA for OS X only)

10.4.3 was working perfectly except for the video resolution.

10.4.8 was hit and miss with some program installs stopping the boot process.

Now....NOTHING!

Not one of the install disks I have will even get past the initial startup phase????
