Like I mentioned last week, I thought it’d be a good time to formally introduce myself to our community. You’ve known me as “Mashugly” and “Mash” for well over a year now, and now that a lot of you are my good friends, I wanted to let you know a little more about me.

My name is Jason Swadley and I’ll be graduating from Drury University in May with dual degrees in Political Science and Speech Communication. Feel free to call me by my full name, but all my friends call me “Swad.” I live in Springfield, Missouri, a fairly large city in the middle of the U.S. and in one of the most beautiful parts of the country (the Ozarks). Like I mentioned in our introduction thread, I have a wide variety of interests – I love music, the outdoors, baseball, technology, philosophy, etc.

The name “Mashugly” came from our high school production of the play M*A*S*H. My character’s nickname was “Ugly” – hence Mashugly. The character’s real name in the play was John Black, which was the pseudonym I’ve been using for the site until now.

So, that’s me – I’m not really anyone terribly special, just someone who realized that it’d be great to have a place to talk about Intel and x86 based Macs. I hope this site has brought you as much fun as it has me.

Here’s to many more years for the work Mashugly started.

- Swad

Well you did a damned good job at making this site.

Only thing I'd love is a bit more of a simplistic layout... But for the rest, it's great.

You never could imagine something simple as an OS hack could turn into something of this size...

Also, have you gotten any legal threats from Apple?

well, if this is kinda like an introductory round, i gonna tell a little bit about me:

my forename is christoph, i live in former east-germany (currently studying at Klagenfurt, Austria) and i once tried osx86 to get os x on my pc, but now i got a mbp and the pc is dusty ;-)

i think this forum is very nice, with a special mixture of people - the news-page and forum-threads always get me up-to-date, and i had a lot of amusement here...

my interests are making music (hardtek and dnb with ableton live and several tools), snowboarding, studying communication science, drinking a lot and so on ;-)

There was a matter earlier this year where a lawyer representing Apple contacted us to have a link removed, but things like that are standard fare for tech forums.

eGWan-

I'll see if I can rustle up one or two.

Well, I'm keeping the .mash avatar for awhile and I'll keep the note in my title, so that hopefully people won't get too confused. :hysterical:

MKay my turn... My name is Ari and I'm a 12 year old Mac Geek with a MacBook and a Dell Dimension 2400 Hackintosh. (Yes I did it by myself...) I develop installers for iPodLinux, and I help people with it over the forum and IM. You can find the iPod Application Manager at http;//ipodlinux.org/iPod_Application_Manager. Can't give you any more information cause my mom won't let me... She has no idea what I'm doing on the computer, but I don't tell anyone where I live or my last name becase... well I don't have much of a reason to do so...

@Swad/Mash - Yea that shouldn't be much of a problem... unless someone thinks you are impersonating you :hysterical:

I hope this site has brought you as much fun as it has me.

It most definitely has, in my case.

I'll always remember 2006 as the year I started using OS X and fell in love with it, only thanks to this site.

This site has started a brand new chapter in my computing experience: Linux is not so important any longer, after many years, but even more important it has given me the great pleasure of choosing and buying computer parts one by one and building a computer, instead of buying ready computers from the likes of HP or Dell.

And BTW, thanks for all you have done, together with many others.

Well, I don't think I officially said "thank you".

Thank you Swad for this great site. :hysterical:

I am going now, my name is Adam and I am a 14 year old Mac Fanatic that fell in love with Macs when I got my old G3 iMac. I have a MacBook Pro and a Dell Dimension 700m, both of which have Mac OS X. I am one of the only kids at my school that doesn't play World of Warcraft. I came here because of Leopard. When it leaked I was reading about how to get it and one of the articles refered me to here. I realized that this was a nice place and decided to stay. I really don't develop much, although I do know C++ and AppleScript pretty well. I can usually help anyone that has problems with "upcoming Apple products."

BTW, Swad, you should change your member title from "Founder... they call me "Mash."" to "Founder... they call me "Swad""

Wow, I can't believe that a LOT of people here are so young!

So maybe I need to introduce myself...

Ok, let's start. My name and surname will be secret :) I'm a 14 years old boy that lives in a little town near Como, in Italy. I do computer programming since I was 6. All started with Microsoft (BUUH!) MS-DOS 6.22, Windows 3.11 for Workgroups, the GWBASIC environment and Monkey Island :)

After I switched to Windows 98 and then, at the age of 10, I started to use Microsoft Windows XP, using Q-BASIC 4.5 for programming little stuffs. And then.. In 2003 I met my love: the Macintosh. I saw for the first time System 7.5.5 and it was incredible... And then I saw Mac OS X, and I decided that I wanted to buy a Mac. I waited for 6 months and then I bought an used iBook G3 Clamshell made in 1999 with Mac OS X Jaguar 10.2.8. It was SO beautiful. For years I prayed for an Intel version of Mac OS X.. And then, on the 6th of July, 2005, God listened to me :D

And so now I have a full-working iBook G3 Clamshell, an AMD-64 PC and a three-months old white MacBook all running 10.4.8. That's great. :)

Bofors, et al -

Well, there might be some initial confusion, but we're a fairly smart bunch here, so I'm pretty sure people will be able to understand. My sig, avatar, and member title are all charged with helping in the transition... :)
