ATI Mobility X1600, X1700 and others

Does anybody have EDID numbers for Acer 15.4" 1680x1050 LCD? It is branded as Samsung LTN154P1-L02, Monitor ID is SEC3146. I checked it with Everest. I have ATI Mobility X1600 card on my laptop. My Laptop model is Acer 8215WLMi. I tried softMCCS and get-edid.exe. softMCCS could not find any information for this LCD and get-edid.exe also did not give any EDID numbers when I tried. I am not sure if I did something wrong.

You mean Phoenix EDID Designer Tool? If so, as far as I could understand it is for creating an EDID file by using some settings. And it is too advanced for me to understand those settings.

Hi all,

I'm another Asus A6JA owner and like the 2 or 3 others on here I too have the backlight issue, after editing the ATIinject.kext file to contain my LVDS,EDID the ATI X1600 Mobility is correctly detected, all graphics resolutions are available and when I hold a bright light to the screen it allows me to see the wallpaper / dock / desktop

One thing that seems interesting is if you go to the 'Display' option in the 'System Preferences' and click on 'Detect Displays' after a moment the screen seems to go blank (a dull grey) then if you press 'fn & F8' as if alternating between LCD and External monitor you get a perfectly backlit light blue screen.

Unfortunately I dont have a DVI - VGA adapter or external TFT here to see if anything is being sent via the secondary, although I doubt it will be as I deleted the original plist and replaced it with the renamed plist2 in the ATIinject.kext which I believe limits the driver to just the internal display?

I've been trying to get this to work since March 2006, I feel so close to a solution and yet so far ... I'm off to browse linux communities to see if anything similar has ever cropped up.

A6JA owners please do get in touch if you find a solution or anything of interest.

benzini, I have A6JA too, and have had exactly same result as you. I also managed to get light blue screen by editing the info.plist, the funny thing is, for a very short moment, you can see the login window on a lit screen - then it goes all blue. when I have my TFT connected via VGA, and press fn & F8, I get the blue screen on my monitor, sometimes blue stripes... I hope there would be some solution.

Hi all

I appreciate for your any advice.

I followed exactly the #134 process and my T60p get

- mouse, keyboard, and any other system functions works

- but the screen seperated to 2 parts that I can see 2 menu bar (I will upload the image later)

- switching to any resolution showed in "Display" can not fix it

- with the configuration: EDID modified Info.plist(not Info2.plist), VGA+LCD in BIOS, no external display connected, AC adapter injecting

Once I click the "Detect Displays", everything just goes perfect.

BUT,

If I pull off the AC adapter, half of screen turns dark.

And everything just goes fine after I click the "Detect Displays" again.

To Amuraivel:

How about your T60p?

I met the same issues below.

Two issues:
1. I get a bios security error upon coming out of sleep? Is this a kernel, bios, or driver issue? (TPM is disabled on my device), or type of sleep setting.

2. Some displayed resolutions, like 680x680 create a black screen necessitating a clearing of all reslution files /preferences/byhost

Didn't work for me. I have a thinkpad T60p 2008-93A (Core Duo 2.33 with ATI FireGL 5200 1600x1200). I got QE/CI working thanks to adidasprince, but I have the characteristic mouse tearing and the issues when coming back from OpenGL.

but I am stuck at the grey screen: the screen blinks quickly and the grey screen remains static. Rebuilding extensions, and fixing permissions doesn't help. Moving ATIinject.kext out of the way bring me back to the mouse tearing accelerated graphics.

I am attaching my ATIinject.kext file modified. Could someone have a look to tell me if I did anything wrong?

X1700 isn't supported yet by Natit or any other Apple Graphics Driver!

There are some guys who try to get that X1700 workin!

Hello all,

I got my ATI FireGL 5200 to work without mouse tearing:

used the files provided by adidasprince.
changed the device-id to match mine: 0x71c4.
changed the LVID for the one retrieved with Phoenix.
chown and chmod the three subtrees.
deleted the extensions cache files.
rebooted.

I reckon that the key to make that work is not to forget to update the permissions on all the three subtrees: ATIinject, ATINDRV and IONDRVSupport. Also I always was under the false assumption that adidasprince had same device-id than mine, so it took a long time before I figured out I had to change 71c5 into 71c4.

Thank you all for the help. Now it's time for me to work on getting the sound card to work.

SOLUTION!!! well, a sort of...
This time I got it!!!

Same results as Sheriffbounce (1680X1050 and reschange), but I've had to modify a couple of things:

I must premit I started from the kext Sheriffbounce posted some time ago in this thread.

First, IOPCImatch in Info.plist, and consequently Info2.plist, was wrong; was 0x00001002&0x0000ffff

and should be 0x71C51002;

In second place as I was getting nothing with the Info.plist with one monitor, I tried to put two identical edid in DFP1,EDID and LVDS,EDID - the keys of Info2.plist.

and Tah dah!!! 1680x1050 and res change.... very good ....

Many thanks to Sheriffbounce for he pointed me to the right direction.

here is the kext I use: remember to modify accordingly with your configuration (EDID is good for hp9420, change it for your conf)

Allot of things where new for me

So i started to look for this monitorid: B170PW04 V0 and found this manual Now i started to be worried because i have no idea how to use that information ... Hope someone here to know how to use it and give a helping hand.

There is no difference using LaptopDisplay or not using it ... So

Another test i made was loading both ATIinject and Natitx1600 provided by DiaboliK He made for me more than 30 versions to test but one vas getting better results. Somehow the Natitx1600 is the one that overwrites the info in About this Mac but the ATIinject is the one that makes the changes on the resolution and display side.

The is all for now. Hope sooner, not later ... to havo better news.

First, I've just upgraded to 10.4.9 and it works (at this time) ok, using the same ATINdrv.kext , IONDriver.kext and ATIinject.kext from the previous installation.

QE and other stuff are working ok.

I don't care) and I didn't manage to start dhcp on start so I had to enter IP/Mask/Router/DNS manually but IT WORKS angel.png In my opinion patch will work on 5750/5751 chips as well device id's 1677/1778 and so on but any feedback will be appreciated.

so I personally pathed all occurences of:

"66 81 FA 59 16" to "66 81 FA 7D 16" (It's the instruction cmp dx, 167d... yes everywhere in driver compare is against dx... I tripple checked it) not just 37336... there are 46 occurences... if I remember correctly

Second (my patch) at 37554 change 75 71 to EB 71... this changes just before initnvram and checknvram functions a jnz to a jmp... I think that this jnz is a check if there is nvram present but of course I'm not sure.

I don't know if this is the best way to patch it, mostly sure it is not but it works for me...

Test it on your own risk as I did..."

Pls Give more exact informations so i can continue from that point!

I downloaded Atiinject.kext from Mathieu Attachement Page 12, put in "0x71C51002&0x0000ffff" (without quotes), put in my edid, chown'ed and chmod'ed Atiinject, removed extensions cache and repaired DiskPermissions.

After Reboot Atiinject is loading and ill can see the loginwindow for a thousand of a second before it goes black :thumbsup_anim:

Dont know what to do now!

At the moment Im using my Linksys 854GC USB WLAN adapter, and it works great together with RALink utility.

As for the Audio I have bought a Creative X-treme fidelity USB Card and that one also works great, out of the box.

My only problem at the moment is that the external monitor isnt working. It detects the model of the monitor but no matter if I change resolutions and refresh rates I get no siignal.

Nick: Does it work for you ?

Great news about 10.4.9. I will defenetly give that a try. Is there anything that I need to know Nick ? Did it boot up correctly straight after the update ?

Seems like an wrong EDID, check this thread out for getting EDID and put it into kext's!

Everything you need to change EDID etc is described in this Thread.

Hello,

I have a quick question. My ATI FireGL 5200 works great now: I get QE/CI without mouse tearing on the laptop display in 1600x1200. Changing resolution works, but can sometimes lead to corrupted screenshots ; that's alright because I never actually need to change the resolution on my laptop LCD screen.

However, I wasn't able to get a second display (attached to the CRT port) recognized. I would like to be able to run presentations from this laptop and therefore to attach various projectors. The projector get the grey boot screen, but once the graphic card driver initializes, there's no more image on the projector. Running detect diplay doesn't help (and it's somehow weird: it blinks the screen the first time as expected, but seems to do nothing the second time around).

I reckon that entering the EDID of the external projector in the driver plist file could help, however that's not really practical because I do not know in advance the EDID of the projector I will connect to...

Any solution?

How does the Apple driver works? Does it auto-detect somehow the EDID of the attached external display?

hello, i have a laptop acer5595 equipped with CPU:T7200, GPU:x1600(64bit,not128bit) and 512M RAM. Recently i followed the steps given by sheriffbounce and it works. I can change res. with QE/CI and no tearing. But, i encountered a very strange phenomenon--my internal panel twinkled irregularly. The interval ranges from 1 second to 10 seconds. I donnot know what's wrong with my internal panel. I guess it might be ascribed to the (64bit,not128bit) . could some guy help me to solve it? thanks in advance

I need help to install my ATI Radeon Mobility X1600 (0x71C5) on my Notebook MEDION MD96144. I followed all instructions in this thread but never arrived to install it. I reinstalled at least 8 times the OS because the driver X1600 crashed. I tired to install again so that why I REALLY NEED YOU HELP. I used Natit's methode, Sheriff's methode and others but it's impossible to install it on my notebook.

I change the EDID the info.plist in the ATIinject.kext with Plist Editor, change IOPCMatch string with mine (0x71C51002) and i saved it.

I do chown, chmod and repair permissions.

When rebooting, it stopped at this screen (see image attached)

Someone can help me to build the ATIinject.kext file with my EDID please?

hi guangjin,

ok make shure you use the atindrv.kext from 1045 and iondrvsupport.kext from 1047 ... and also try to edit the info.plist using the EDID result. You might have problems with the internal display but i do know for shure it work on external.

Hi Righteye,

The external display doesn't work too. The second connector is a DVI.

I have installed with JAS 10.4.8 SSE2/SSE3 kernel 8.8.1 OS. I don't how to identify the version of ATINDRV.KEXT and ondrvsupport.kext. I download it in this thread.

If you have the same video card that mine, please can you send me the files ? And i retry.
