Adrian Fogge
At this time, Apple has begun seeding 10.4.9 to Developers on ADC. Of note is that this update is Intel Only. There is not currently a PPC build posted, but it would be extremely unlikely that one would not be posted in the near future. The build is fairly large compared to previous builds. In this case, the delta package (Upgrade from 10.4.8 to 10.4.9) is nearly 160MB. NEW INFO: December 26, 2006 10.4.9 - 8P111 (PPC Only) Released today to ADC. 72.5 MB Delta. 176.6 MB Combo Edited December 27, 2006 by Adrian Fogge Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/36511-1049-8p2111-8p111-seeded-intel-ppc/ Share on other sites
asap18
cool, it seems every time the updates get bigger and bigger. Maybe the PPC build is having some problems, after all this update pretty much has to be perfect if it is going to be the last before leopard. Adrian Fogge
It is not necissarily the last before Leopard, or even the last after Leopard ships. There is no reason that there will not be a 10.4.10, 10.4.11, and so on. In the past there have been two maintenance releases after the new versions ship. Just because there was not the need for as many updates in the past does not mean that Apple will just stop supporting their own software on their own hardware as soon as some arbitrary number is met. Remember, not many businesses are going to immediately upgrade to Leopard the day that it comes out. Adrian Fogge
Ha, ha, you are hillarious, Colonel. Just because it hasn't happened before does not mean that it will not happen soon™. Look at it this way, Microsoft actually pushed Vista out the door... Who is to say that Apple woln't mind **** people and make them realize that 10.4.10 is really newer than 10.4.2 contrary to what Excel's sort feature would tell you. Here is a quick example: 10.4.1 10.4.10 10.4.11 10.4.2 10.4.3 10.4.4 10.4.5 10.4.6 10.4.7 10.4.8 10.4.9 Edited December 22, 2006 by Adrian Fogge Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/36511-1049-8p2111-8p111-seeded-intel-ppc/#findComment-259809 Share on other sites
GBK.Xscape
well mathematically excel is correct but the way apple numbered their updates wasnt the smartest either. after 10.4.9 it really left no more room for whole numbers in the tenths place, only numbers in the hundreths place could be higher thatn .9. OoOoOoO
There is 8.8.5 kernel in 10.4.9, so i guess it's bugfix kernel, and i hope we can use 8.8.1 with it. And binary hack is easy now . Gen. Meister
Are there any noticeable OpenGL improvements? I.E. New GL extensions and so on? You can use the OpenGL Extension Viewer to check. Colonel
You gota be kidding Colonel . What kernel are u running with 10.4.9 ? via the Hackintosh I'm using the 8.8.1 (10.4.8) kernel. Are there any noticeable OpenGL improvements? I.E. New GL extensions and so on? You can use the OpenGL Extension Viewer to check. Actually, 10.4.9 is bad news for GMA 900 users. With 10.4.8 and below, I got 256MB of vram. Now in 10.4.9 OS X is limiting my vram to 64MB. I haven't noticed any OpenGL improvements, but I'll keep an eye out. Embio
How are you guys planning to update your systems to the release version of 10.4.9? Won't the installer just detect a 10.4.9 install and refuse to update? This is more for the genuine Mac users.... Won't the installer just detect a 10.4.9 install and refuse to update? This is more for the genuine Mac users.... more than likely they have a dev partition. also software update can determine if you need an update by the build number, so you'll likely be able to just update to any/final release just fine. if all that fails for some reason you can manually download the package and install it and if that fails too just use pacifist. Adrian Fogge
Yep, generally the Developer Preview releases either are the final update builds. In the couple times that they havent been, they have been able to update to the final using Software Update.
