Mactelman
So here's my deal. I have OS X 86, running smoothly on my rig now, with QE and everything. It's like a dream, I have no problems, and rosetta runs perfectly. My networking is also great. Only 2 problems. 1 I don't have access to Windows on my machine (I ended up doing a complete install, via developer DVD) to get the Vendor ID, and Device ID of my integrated sound. How can I go about getting this? Can I use knoppix and lspci to do it? Also, how can I expand my graphics to 1280x1024, I only have 1024x800 right now, and OSX and my monitor desire more than that. Be sure that your windows partition is active. When you press a key at the Darwin boot promt you can choose what partition you want to boot. macgirl
Yes, you can use a Linux Live CD to find your device IDs. As for the resolution there are some threads here about getting the "right" wide-screen res. I have the device ID and vendor ID now (thanks to Knoppix) But when I follow the wiki http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/Audio The directory AppleAC97 cannot be found. And when using finder I can't see it either. Any other kext files I can edit to do so? Mactelman
Ok, I downloaded the kext (a patched one), but I get an error saying that it was improperly installed and cannot be used. How can I "properly install it"? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/3635-sound-and-video-res-and-im-done/#findComment-23121 Share on other sites
suleiman
what macgirl is saying mactelman is that there isn't any directory there. Just a file appleac97audio.kext. You need to RIGHT CLICK on that file so you get a menu with a menu item for "Show Package Contents." Once you click on that it will "open" up the kext file and make it appear as a folder with files inside to modify. So I put one in there (a patched one), but I get the error I posted above. The AC97 kext is only included if you do the deadmoo dd install method, not from the dvd. Asked and answered. http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?showtopic=3657 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/3635-sound-and-video-res-and-im-done/#findComment-23212 Share on other sites
humasect
Install DVD release 1 does not include AppleAC97Audio.kext - I get mine from the Darwin 8.01 iso. My device and vendor ID are there already so I don't have to do anything. The section on the WIKI deals more with nForce chipsets, but it could apply with anything else "exotic".
