Flkx, when you say "black screens (sleep)," what exactly does that mean? Does that mean that you have it working until it sleeps and you can't get it to work after? If not, then when does this black screen occur? Before installation, after installation, first boot, or after Natit install?

If this is happening after the installation is completed I would recommend that you look into the other Natit drivers. There are many variations and the tweaks that differentiate them makes some nVidia cards work and not others. I believe the easiest way to find them all in one place is to look at Rammjet's collection of links, I'm not sure if it is complete as far as Natit is concerned but it should give you enough to try out.

Nikje, could you give me that info about what the sound was doing so I can get that fixed? Can anybody else confirm that? I believe it worked fine for me when I tried it, but maybe there is a hardware configuration issue here that I'm just not seeing. Any help trying to tie up this last loose end would be much appreciated!

Happy Holidays,

Stephen

Thanks for responses !

My screens goes black when in -V Natit load, i've tried so many things  but i can't believe this graphic card

can't work with all QE/CI and resolutions, what are your BIOS version & settings ? Did you erased all others kexts (ATI, Intel, ...)

and when you install he OS did you check SSE2 and SSE3 or just one of them ? Excuse my English but i'm French ++

Flkx,

When you asked whether I checked SSE2 or SSE3, what did you mean by that? You signature says that you are working off of 10.4.8 (which is required to run Natit) but there is no option to install SSE2 on the JaS 10.4.8 SSE3 Only install disc. So, first, if you have that option... something is wrong.

For me personally, I didn't erase any other kexts. I just copied Natit in and then did the house keeping (permissions).

As for the BIOS, I'm currently on 2.10 though I really don't think that is where you problem is coming from. I haven't updated simply because I erased Windows off of the machine and I don't view updating it as important enough to get it done. While I guess that it could technically be a problem, I think you need to search on the forum about issues specifically pertaining to your card. Did you try other Natit kexts? Also, in somewhat rare instances, a graphics card made by one manufacturer will work while one made by another manufacturer with the same chipset won't. Be very specific in your search, try to narrow that down.

Finally, if you do find somebody with the exact same card as you that has it working properly, then you should look to your motherboard. Try a different card in your motherboard, and try that card in a different motherboard. If at that point you have not found a solution, then it is possible that this card is not compatible with this motherboard. The PCIe slot on ASRock 775Dual-VSTAs are not full 16x hardware, they run at 4x speed because they are actually running on the AGP bus. Because of this it is possible, however unlikely, that there could be an issue where a card will not work on your motherboard or need a driver capable of modified communication on that bus.

Hope this helps. I don't mind your English, my French was a lot worse in high school.

Everybody here good on the mirrors working and no bugs in the patch?

Hi thestevo,

Thanks for this patch.

Gathering all the modification for a motherboard in one patch is really a great idea.

But there is a problem is the command script since all the path are in lowercase and thus do not work on my case sensitive partition.

/system/library/extension should be capitalized.

I'have workaround by editing script but maybe in may help other to fix it.

Thanks again for your script and thanks jas for its dvd's, the latest one has calisto driver included so my ati radeon 9600pro works like a charm in the first boot + your patch everything is smooth. I've just a pb with about this mac i've read some where that i've to get stuff from 10.4.4.

Cheers

Mathias

Does it works with JaS.10.4.8AMD.Intel.SSE2.SSE3 or only with SSE3 release?

Sorry for my bad english, i'm spanish

Thanks

Well i've installed SSE3 only my D805 is SSE3. I also used patch from thestevo.

Worls quite well fix some problem i faced but i still have stuttering, ie very slow response time for special task like keyboard typing in terminal. IT's fixed with cpus=1 startup flag.

Anyway i have some problem to start with uncleared extension cache and marcian too.

Ok,

I apologize for not responding in a while. There has recently been a death in the family and I have been working to keep my head above water now that college has started again.

I hope that maybe tonight I will fix the capitalization issue. My guess is that I should just change it all to caps because most people don't have cap sensitive partitions, and those that do would have to have it capitalized. So... that's coming.

It should work just fine with JaS.10.4.8AMD.Intel.SSE2.SSE3 Just as long as it is an install that has the semthex kernel, it will work. And, I would imagine, that when 10.4.9 comes along (assuming that nobody bothers to obtain that kernel) it will have semthex packaged with whatever install DVD might be available - and it *should* work on that too. The AppleHDA, Natit, and the USB patch are kernel dependent.

And on to new business... I'm thinking that maybe I should change this somewhat so that we can increase compatibility. I'd like to do things like Natit Uni, cpu=1 and -f in boot.plist, etc... Giving it a GUI might not be bad either. If it were in an application it could automatically install the appropriate driver based on the hardware the user inputs. For instance, selecting a D805 and a FX6600 would install a boot.plist with cpu=1 and Natit_Dual. It would be nice to have EVERYTHING that people need included in one place. Quite frankly, what I would like to develop is an application that looks on a server for a list of all kexts, patches, and installers available for OSX86. It would give a description of what it fixes, possible an associated rating, and the option to download and install in one click. This would require hosting and somebody with a better understanding of mac programming than I. However, I believe that an application like that would enhance user experience and aid in solution coherency. Right now, one is at the mercy of the search function. Only recently have matters been made better - to some extent (if people know to look there) - by Rammjets list of patches and fixes.

I don't know, maybe its a rather far fetched idea. For a community of hacker oriented people, maybe it is unnecessary. Still, I will make those improvements to the current script that I mentioned (capitalization now and Natit Uni in the future)

hi there. caught wind of this thread via the os86 wikiproject.

i have installed the os, but when i reboot, i get the no smoking symbol or whatnot that appears on top of the apple logo.

i'm new to this, but when do i apply the patch? do i reboot via the bootable dvd and patch from there? it seems to be the only i'd be able to.

don't suppose someone would want to really break it down step by step?

thx

As said in the wiki, the no smoking sign come up because you have not applied the USB patch from Apple upon the FIRST boot. This USB patch is included in the installer. I believe that it is stated on this thread and on the wiki that the patch must be installed upon the FIRST boot. Unfortunately for you, since you did not apply the patch on the first boot, I don't think you have any option but to reinstall. After you have reinstalled, apply the patch before stopping the operating system in ANY way. Now, the wiki also states that you must have this patch on a CD or readable partition of some type (not SATA). This is because you will have no network and no USB.

I don't mean this sarcastically, not at all. But if you found that the wiki did not make this significantly clear, please edit it so that it does. I only ask this because I thought that timing, methodology, and reasoning was made significantly clear as to the specifics of this patch's application.

PS. new versions are coming, but as I said earlier, things are hectic right now.

Hi all,

Well perhaps you can boot with -s option at startup. (single mode you will have a command shell as root)

Then after mount drive and then applied patch.

This may work butyou need some command prompt skill.

Good luck

Well, from what I can tell, my problem occurs between the installation and 1st boot. I don't even have the opportunity to apply the USB patch via separate cd/dvd.

During the installation, it does install for Intel SSE2/3, and I see no errors or warnings during installation.

Installation completes, it reboots, and then all I see is a flashing cursor on a blank screen. No apple splash screen even.

I read somewhere that the hard drive and cd/dvd drive need to be on the same cable, is there truth to this?

Originally, via bios, I had to change the option to allow legacy OS systems to boot.

Are there any other settings in BIOS that might be tripping me up?

Ok, well, before you said that you get the no smoking symbol, so I responded to that. The flashing cursor on a blank screen is a problem all its own and is discussed quite frequently on this forum. It has to do with the inability of your computer to find a bootable OS. There are a number of things that can cause this, but the solutions that you are looking for are along the lines of repairing the MBR, boot0, etc... Take a look, and keep looking. Lots of solutions to try. If you get stuck, Rammjet is a pretty good authority on the subject.

Is what compatible with the new macvidia driver? This installer does not include the new macvidia driver because this installer is ONLY for 10.4.8 and if that is what you are using the best solution is Natit.

Your board won't stop you from using macvidia, on a pre-10.4.8 install. But, if thats what you are asking this was not the proper place to ask that question because this thread only pertains to this installer.

Hi! Got it up and working right.. Didn't install the Natit the first time.. Problem now is that i can't get the 5.1 audio to work.. Tried the ALC888 and it detects the 5.1 but won't output audio at the same time.

Ok, Version 4.1 out.

Minor change, just support for Case Sensitive volumes.

Looks like sound isn't working. I know some of you were saying that it wasn't working, but others said, 'patch works great!' Maybe those people were ignoring the sound problem. So, now that I know its a problem, I'll probably fix it. However, now there is a pre-installation patch out that allows you to install to an SATA disk. MartaMarco came out with the method, I put out a PPF for it on the little green monster that also includes the disk utility downgrade.

This installer might have been obsoleted now. It is much more practical to fix the installer than to fix the installation. However, I might start working on that project I mentioned earlier. But, I would need some partners. My objective C programming skills haven't been used in so long...

Anyone interested?

@thestevo

yeah, read and followed them but once i go to play anything sound only comes out from the left and right. I'm able to select the 5.1 option and test each speaker seperately without problems in the audio midi setup. But once i try itunes or a dvd i only get sound in the front L-R.

Which package did u install by the way? 3 ports or 6 ports?

About your last post, being able to install on a SATA drive would be perfect as i'm hoping to get one soon!

thanks so much!

I believe I installed the audio package with 3 ports + digital. I'm investigating problems with audio as I have time.

The ability to install on a SATA drive is now here. Use MartaMarco's process, or my PPF of his process, on an installation ISO and away you go.

The procedure outlined on the wiki works correctly, as that is exactly what I followed to create the PPF. As for the PPF itself... everything is crazy right now on the whole BT end of things. I'm gonna stay off of seeding at least until some of this dust settles. I don't have the resources to host it on a webserver so I don't yet know what I will be doing. If there are some people willing to seed, I'm sure somebody must have it. I seeded well over 350 times all told. So, there should be a way to get ya going.

Sorry for asking

Is there any Leopard version of the installer or may I use the old 10.4.8 version?

It unfortunatey seems that my PCiE is not correctely recognized even in 10.4.8

But it worked for SATA and network in 10.4.8...

Thank you
