Can anyone think of reason FCP 11 Magnetic mask would not work properly?

Was wondering if anyone has ideas. I have Asus Z790 Proart, 14700K, 6950 XT, Sonoma 14.7, iMacPro1,1.

Using FCP 11 and notice glitch with the new magnetic mask. The video attached shows what I mean. Namely, if you add mask, then use brush to modify, each brush stroke erodes the whole mask gradually.  Use enough brush strokes the mask erodes completely.  Also when you do the analysis and hit Done it seems like all is well, but then add, say, white background under the masked subject, and notice that the background comes through the subject a bit, as if the subject is partially transparent.

Wondering if this truly shows limits of a 14th gen system...

Nothing on Mac FCP release notes suggests the magnetic mask doesn't have full compatibility with Intel.  So what could cause this behavior? On my macbook air M2 all works as expected.  Could a different SMBIOS yield different result or is this simply likely an issue with 14th gen and instruction set?  Could kernel quirks in any way affect a program's execution?

thanks
