meg2014
So, if your motherboard has a USB-C Gen 2 port (re: 10G), then you can get 5 Gbps throughput with this adapter! I have tested it on Ventura, Sonoma and Sequoia and it worked fine on all of them. https://www.newegg.com/wavlink-uhp505-usb/p/0J2-008P-000B2?Item=9SIA6PFKD05613 Before I go any further, let me make clear: I have NO interest or arrangement with Newegg or Wavlink whatsoever - no financial arrangement, no credit, no nothing. I just am very happy to have a reliable and fast connection that isn't affected by upgrades or changes of Operating Systems and gives very close to 10G performance with only a USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 port. It sure beats messing with Intel's i225 or i226 2.5 Gbps cards that are nothing but trouble in my experience. It is fully portable (just unplug it and move it to another computer and port) No need to tear open a case, no messing with your system, just plug it in, reboot, and at least in my case, that's it. And then there's the price, too. If you don't like Newegg, I am pretty sure you can get this adapter at AliExpress or any of the Chinese sites that carry it. The model number is: WL-NWU340G Now Wavlink says you don't need a driver, but there are drivers available on their site - Mac, Windows and even Linux. In my machines, in all three systems I didn't need the drivers. I just plugged the unit in to an available USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 port and that was it. I did install the drivers for Mac and it seemed a bit better, but not much of a huge change. Now my testing was done on a Z790 motherboard, so I just have no way to test on older system boards like the Z390 or Z490 or others, so I cannot guarantee that those systems would be as seamless as it was on my Z790, but I tend to think it sure seems like it would be. YMMV, of course. Something worth checking out for sure.....and, definitely check out the drivers if you don't get the fast, smooth performance that I did with my Z790.
