Can you use your camera via USB connection if your phone or Mac is offline?

I am not sure what you mean, both P/C and Phone has to be in operation surely.

Both have to be on the same WIFi network regardless as far as I understand.

I thought, for example, let's say that you turn of WiFi on your phone, there should be no technical reason not to use it as Continuity Camera via USB connection.

But if that's a requirement, regardless of the connection type (USB or WiFi), that both phones have to be on same wifi no matter what, then we're back to square one :)

I have a 'camera refresh' problem both, on WiFi and USB connection, and not sure what to do next to at least enable it through USB :)

Any suggestions? :)

Ok, I understand your original query when you mentioned the phone being off line.

To answer the query, I turned off the wifi on my phone and made the connection by USB only.

The iPhone Camera worked perfectly in this configuration without the refreshing glitch like when in wifi mode only.

So in essence, the phone Camera can be used connected by USB even when no wifi is available or off line.

Hope this answered your question.

That's a problem then. There must be something wrong with my USB communication. I have SSDT-USB-Reset.aml and SSDT-HPET.aml to deal with my usual USB problems. So far it has been working perfectly, but I guess I will have to play with that until I get Continuity Camera working via USB properly.

Thanks!

Hi again @eSaF :)

Just wanted to ask you if you disabled wireless on your phone by going to General -> Wifi and flipping the switch? Becuase if you disable it from your Home Screen it's not trully disabled.

Thanks!

Yes I completely isolated wifi connection from the phone.

So....it's me again :)

I bought a new cable and USB -> USB-C adapter and the Continuity Camera is still not working via USB port.

What I wanted to ask you guys.....so any of you, whom have it running via USB port, are you using USB-C ports exclusively? Or can you make it run over normal USB(A) ports (USB 2/3)?

Thanks!

Sorry Bro, wish I could help, my connection is by using the Apple charging cable connected to USB 3 always.

I thought I had a USB adapter to test this for you but the one I have is a USB 2 (female) to USB 3 (male).

No issues @eSaF, you've done enough.

I guess I'm the only guy on the planet with this problem :).....Tried googling it.....and literally found noone...

Here's a screenshot of my iPhone in Finder:

And through this same cable, if I switch off the Wifi camera immediately dissapears. Works on Wifi though :)

You mentioned somewhere before that OC (or OCLP) devs might not be aware of the 12 secs reconnect problem. How do we make them aware? I guess wireless is my only route now :)

Thanks!

I guess on their GitHub OCLP section, but as OCLP is primarily for Intel Macs, don't hold your breath for help on a Hackintosh.

I am not aware of the same problem on Intel Macs as I'm a frequent visitor to their Forums looking for clues and tips but yet to come across any with this problem.
