This one, don't know if correct.

I tend flay around in the dark until I hit the goal.

Usually I will end up with a load of useless junk (the wife's words not mine) :hysterical:

until I get it right. :frantics:

Thanks that's the wife's model.

I think that should work just fine. But...isn't that the model that comes with the Fenvi T919? I mean...wouldn't that be the same?

For reference, I got this one, with an adapter, and it seems to be working flawlessly (well, after patching, of course). Also, Jorge seems to have the same one (BCM94360CD not BCM943602CDP). Curious if he's got the Backgrounds showing up.

@JorgeMax have you gotten iPhone Continuity camera Backgrounds showing up on your setup?

Meaning this thing:

My Fenvi Card that is installed has three aerials, the one on order has four.

If the ordered one doesn't work out, I will have to unknown to the wife order the one you posted. :wink_anim:

PS - It would be helpful to know all the successful connections with full Background options, with what Model Phone and what WiFi cards.

As it could be something entirely happening else where.

Oh, ok. Then it must be a different revision or something. The one I saw here seems to have 4, and uses BCM94360CD.

I'm setting up the iPhone 11 Pro Max as we speak. :) I'll let you know once I get it all set up and I can do the test.

Looks like OCLP Metallib component received an update and now my 2013 MBP can access and use FaceTime camera, as well as iPhone Continuity Camera, via WIFI. Same problem as on my hack, meaning that it seems to be disconnecting or something, but yeah, it's working. Kinda. :)

@eSaF Looks like we might have found the culprit here.

These are the options I get with the iPhone 11 Pro Max.

It downloads it automatically (if necessary) when you try to apply root patches. You just need to have a working internet connection.

Also, make sure the OS is up to date. Not a beta build.

Thank you so much, that leads to the conclusion it all depends on the model iPhone to get full operation.

I do plan to upgrade my Phone but decided to hold off until the 17 as the 16 Model does not offer much from the 15 which I bought for my daughter.

Thanks again, really appreciate you going far and  beyond.:thumbsup_anim:

I have an iPhone 15 myself and wouldn't upgrade to 16, for the same reason. But yeah, looks like some of the features of Continuity Camera are iPhone dependent.

You're most welcome! Anytime. Glad I could help. :)

@arsradu  @eSaF

Which adapter did you buy to use with these 2 Wi-Fi cards? Thanks.
I see that the Arsradu one works fine. Esaf will let us know if his does too although it has the same chipset as the Fenvi.

  • Fenvi -> BCM94360CD
  • Arsradu -> BCM943602CDP
  • Esas -> BCM9436CD.

To be honest I think I was a little hasty in ordering the card.

I wish I'd seen @arsradu test results with the iPhone 11 Pro Max before which gave the same result as my own as far as'Background' choice.

No to worry though it just means I have an extra card if the Fenvi gives up the ghost.

I didn't order the adapter which in hind sight maybe a good thing, but I think I may have one in my box of 'Useless Junk' :lol:

How is your own connection, is it still by USB only and not wireless?

In my opinion the ability to hand off to iPhone camera is probably the best innovated app Apple has introduced lately.

All the others to my mind is just window dressing and nothing striking.

Same with the iPhone 16, I will wait for the 17 plus I'm toying with the idea of buying an iMac if I source a mortgage or sell my DJI drones. :lol:

Yes Bro, both USB and wireless is working on mine.

When you disconnect the cable just leave it for a minute or two, see if it will work.

Some times it takes a while on some systems to work.

@eSaF

I have camera only by USB, not wifi. Using Fenvi T919. After Airdrop, iPhone Camera is also for me the most interesting feature of the Apple ecosystem in recent times. It is not essential that it be via WiFi, but it is much more useful than via USB. I have to settle for USB. Airdrop, on the other hand, works fine on macOS 13, 14 and 15. My iPhone is 11.

@Max.1974

The card you posted has the same chipset as the Fenvi, but there are users with iPhone Camera by wifi working with such cards. See @eSaF for example.

@arsradu

Thank you for the info.

EDIT: just tried again after this post, I connect iPhone via USB -> Photo Booth shows camera image -> I disconnect USB cable -> image freezes in Photo Booth -> after a few seconds I have camera image again, this time only wifi. It doesn't always work but I see that writing to you is a good fix for this issue 😂

I have noticed that, when I get an image via wifi, the camera stays on as long as PhotoBooth is in the foreground or at least not covered by another app or window. If I cover Photo Booth with another window, when I return to it I get a Disconnected message.

This are my settings in the menu bar, they depend of the iPhone model.

@Max.1974

O cartão que você postou tem o mesmo chipset que o Fenvi, mas há usuários com iPhone Camera por wifi trabalhando com esses cartões. Ver@eSaFpor exemplo.

@arsradu

You need another webcam, connected via USB, as main camera. After that, you should be able to get iPhone Continuity Camera as well. Also, try to put the iPhone on a stand or something, with the main camera (the one on the back) facing you, and locked. See if that works. But anyway, in order to see it on the menu, directly via WiFi, it needs to be detected as "secondary camera".

On the subject of the extended change of 'Background' menu in 'Hand Off' to camera, it seems the multiple choice depends on a more modern iPhone.

I may be wrong here but it seems like the iPhone 15 and upwards are the ones that are abled to get the extended menu (clever ploy by Apple if that's the case :wink_anim:)

Although the 'Hand Off' operation is available to lesser models i.e the 11 model like my own, (I don't know about models below the 11) the operation is limited.

Maybe we need to create our own 'Green Screen' in 'Hand Off' to save from swelling the Apple coffers by purchasing a new phone. :hysterical:

For the time being, I will stick with the 11 model until possibly the 17 model as the 15 and 16 offers nothing earth shattering.

As someone pointed out the 'iPhone Mirroring' app is possibly more developers orientated also bewildering if it is only for Silicon and T2 Macs why it ended up on Intel machines??!!

Me think this one slipped through the net on Intel Macs. The Apple saga is on going my people.

Well, I have iPhone 13 Max Pro and I do get all the options in FaceTime, including background.

I update my iPhone every 4 years so I'm skipping this year.
