@PoMpIs Maybe you can figure out how to get WhateverGreen to generate debug output.  See here.

I can't use WEG, it's a RX6700 10Gb...it just needs NootRX.kext to work

https://github.com/ChefKissInc/NootRX

With switchResX I can create the resolution and it works perfectly, but I would like to not have to use that to have the real monitor resolution...

Maybe it could be because it is a 6700 that is not native to MacOS... I have an RX6650XT here too, which does work with WEG... I will try it to see if that is why

Well, it doesn't go with the 6650XT either... MacOS doesn't like this monitor... 😭

We rule out that it is a matter of the RX6700 and NootRX.kext....

In the end I will have to use SwitchResX.... very bad to have to do that at this point to use a monitor ☹️

About this mac on Sequoia and now Sonoma are both showing a 3.7Ghz 12 Core Intel Xeon W when I have and AMD Ryzen 9 5900x.

It used to show properly but now in both OS it shows wrong.

I am using -revbeta flag with no luck.

Has this changed to 14.6 beta and 15?

try to use resstrictevents.kext don by @lorys89 on sequoia thread on macos86 forum

it should help to see again your AMD CPU :)

Guys... I bought a new monitor:

https://iiyama.com/es_es/productos/prolite-xcb4594dqsn-b1/

And Sequoia does not recognize the monitor resolution (5120x1440p@165Hz)

It stays at a very low resolution and looks like {censored}...  (the same thing happens in Sonoma...)

On Windows it works wonderfully

I can adjust the resolution with SwitchRes, but I don't like that, should it work without doing anything, or does MacOS not support this screen format?

From what I can tell it only supports that resolution either at 60Hz or with certain HDMI 2.1 cables. macOS seems to be fussy about it. SwitchResX or BetterDisplay are your best options, https://github.com/waydabber/BetterDisplay

I had same issue time ago with Samsung odyssey g9. A firmware upgrade of the monitor, resolved my problem. You should wait.

Well, I don't like having to use third-party applications for something that MacOS should detect without problems...

Another monitor that I have at 3440x1440p@165Hz is recognized perfectly and with variable frequency by FreeSync.... This is also FreeSyn and it neither recognizes the variable frequency nor the maximum resolution...

I have extracted the EDID and injected it into Opencore but it does nothing....

With BetterDisplay it works at the correct resolution, but you shouldn't have to use that to be able to use the monitor on MacOS... I have already read more people with problems on real Mac computers with problems with these 32:9 monitors  😅

At least there is a solution, with BetterDisplay or SwitchResX it works fine, but it looks bad on the login screen because the native resolution is not activated until BetterDisplay or switchResX is loaded.

@PoMpIs How did you inject EDID via OpenCore? (asking because I'd like to learn). Thanks.

I have no idea about this either, it's the first time I've done it... following a tutorial I found on elitemac...

Capturadepantalla2024-06-22alas10_22_27.thumb.png.be14981e6cf5672166df391dba525184.png

But the problem here is the monitor that MacOS doesn't like, I have read that it happened to a lot with real Macs with the 49" Samsung G9 5120x1440@240Hz...

I have now sent a mail to iiyama to see what they tell me, because I really like the monitor 😄

With firmware updated I have 49" Samsung G9 5120x1440@variable  freq (60 to 240). Sonoma and sequoia. Some time ago, true, I had problems like you.

Capturadepantalla2024-06-22alas5_08_11.thumb.png.a528942a37c31ff1e25526a22cfc622c.png

On Windows it works wonderfully

Capturadepantalla2024-06-21132934.thumb.png.09a25390f38fa0a662a08d3c48868e48.png

I can adjust the resolution with SwitchRes, but I don't like that, should it work without doing anything, or does MacOS not support this screen format?

Had a hard time with this myself

If the problem is the EDID, I would need the manufacturer to provide me with an update in which the EDID contains the resolution 5120x1440p@165Hz

I have extracted the information from the monitor in Windows and it does not show 5120x1440p, it only shows 3840x1080p, which is what MacOS recognizes as maximum 😑

It also happens in Sonoma, it is a problem with the EDID of the monitor 😔

Done that time ago. Nothing spectacular.

Not looking for spectacular - just that it works.  Does FixEDID successfully add unspecified monitor resolutions to an existing EDID?  I have no experience with it (or any EDID editing).

EDIT: @PlutoDelic 's earlier post here and the linked thread suggest that OC-injected EDID don't affect macOS (only UEFI), so I'm not sure if EDID editing will help.

Did anyone have to change audio setting for this macOS? Sonoma works great but no sound on 15.

No changes here, my Coconut rig and my Dell 7400 both have audio working with no changes. Other things are broken compared to Sonoma tho... :D

Everytime I had problem with monitors resolution, I tried this method. No help, for me at least.

When upgrading to a new major macOS, you must use -lilubetaall boot arg or lilu-dependent kexts that have been updated for the new macOS.  Without your EFI, it's hard to guess at another answer.

Yes, I have already tried all the options, including the one you recommend... nothing works, I can only reach the maximum resolution of the monitor with SitchresX or BetterDisplay 🤷‍♂️

I played with Sequoia on my Dell 7400 and it seems to work well except for a few issues I have:

-Touchscreen is not working - not a big deal since I barely used it in Sonoma

-Touchpad acts like a mouse, no multitouch, tap is working - VoodooInput.kext uploaded recently in this topic

-HDMI not working - screen blinks as it registers the cable but no output to the TV - seems like DP for Sequoia should be changed

-Backlight change is not smooth - tried a few whatevergreen boot-args but still doesn't work as it should. Basically only 3 levels of brightness available at the moment.

The positive part is that the MicroSD card reader works despite it shows missing in System Report. Boots relatively the same or a bit faster than Sonoma. Audio is working fine with the latest AppleALC and ALCPlugFix. Wifi is working with HeliPort + itlwm.kext. Bluetooth is not working (doesn't bother me at all, used it once or twice for the last year). Haven't tested the USB-C to Ethernet adapter yet. Thunderbolt is working.

If I manage to fix the touchpad, backlight and the HDMI output this can be a good daily driver.

My Coconut rig works great with Sonoma and the Mini G4 as well.

Does anyone have a favorite utility they'd recommend to monitor Radeon dGPU temps in Sequoia?  If so, what application and kexts?  VirtualSMC or FakeSMC?  Thank you!
