AlfredoM
Today at 6:50 p.m Add bookmarks #1 Hello, I have an iMac 5K late 2016 27 inch with a defective logic board but a working display. The iMac late 2013 27 inch has everything fine, but the display is totally defective. The display and backlight sockets are on the logic board from 2015 and 2013 It is clear to me that the 5K Retina display from 2015 in 2013 cannot have a 5K resolution. I just want to know if it can be done without breaking anything in 2013. Thanks for info
ArcaneRhapsody
It's true that the 5K Retina display from the late 2015 iMac won't operate at 5K resolution when paired with the late 2013 iMac's hardware. This is due to the differences in the graphics capabilities and the logic board design between the two. The connectors and mounting points could differ, and even if they seem compatible, there could be unforeseen issues with power requirements or signal processing. What I would suggest to consider is whether the logic board of the 2013 model can handle the electrical and data throughput demands of the 5K display, even at a lower resolution. Best of luck!
