Most of the Wallpapers will be downloaded on the fly and they are really huge. My download speed is 7 MB/s and it took about a miute to download one.

And after changing some Wallpapers, my previous wallpaper was gone which was from the Catalina era.

Ok, that's done. My studio PC was on the testing bench for Sonoma and it just works! I changed my SMBIOS to iMac19,1. Everything is working even the PCIe Wifi card TP-Link TX55E (AX3000) with Airportitlwm Sonoma Preview 5.

Why am I using GTX 980...? Well, the RX 6600 went into another computer for the next couple of days and I was impatient to try Sonoma now, today. OCLP nightly build 0.6.9 was used just to smoother a little bit the graphics experience. Yes, it's glitchy but for the test it's just fine.

CPU (6700K) is overclocked , system is stable as it was in Ventura showing the correct numbers - 4.7@1.325V. With Sonoma Beta 6 the computer scores 6343 points multi-thread in Cinebench R23 or slightly above the successor 7700K. System boots very fast even with the cheap test SSD Kingston A400. I am happy :)

PS - Does anybody know if I can boot Sonoma from nvme plugged into the Pci slot of the MB ? I checked the manual (Asus Maximus VIII Gene) but no info is provided about such scenario. I have spare nvme's that I want to use for test. It's unconvenient to remove the GPU and replace the nvme everytime since I have only one m.2 pcie slot.

I prefer to use my photos from different places in the world.

I have a folder full of wallpapers that I make the OS choose a random one every time I turn on the PC or every 24h, depending on the OS.

Can't upgrade to beta 6 on my Z490 system. Installation hangs in the 2nd stage (after the verbose part has finished.

Only thing I could imagine is removed GPU Drivers for AMD RX 580.

Anyway, here is the log.

Only thing I could imagine is removed GPU Drivers for AMD RX 580.

No that can't be it. I did a clean install on my Kaby Lake rig with an AMD RX 580 and it went fine, Besides 2019 iMacs have RX 580X so they won't be removing the GPU drivers in Sonoma anyways.

P.S.

Check the secureboot

Thanks. I will try aigan with SecureBootModel disabled. it's weird because I have disks with installations for Catalina, Big Sur and Ventura and Sonoma beta 5 and all work fine up until this.

What mobo is this on ? I know newer systems have zero problems with pcie nvme booting but mine is 8+years old Skylake Z170. Still rock solid tho.

Bro I agree with @Cyberdevs my Z490 albeit a MSI Board along with a RX 580 has no problem with the updates so it has to be something else if you already has SecureBoot disabled.

Hope you find the fix.

Hi my friend, im was used for long time on my old retired GA Z170 XP SLI, great mobo BTW, is quiet on my stuffs, and was used in all my MOBOS, because this is a NVME PCI-e x16 express, but because one x16 slot to GPU like AMD, its possible use x8 or x4 slots. Works fine and good, even not impress or lost constancy or velocity to run any operational system. I retired this express Nvme external too, because my Z790 Aorus Elite AX have many slots to M.2 Nvme cards/ssd.

A clean install resolved the issue. I think this was the fastes macOS install I can recall ever. There wasn't even a "Time Remaining" on the progress bar. Can't be long until the official release, I guess.

Good Day Bro, I had a feeling it had to be a slight glitch within your install.

Happy you got it sorted with a clean install.

@eSaF: Probably. During the clean installl I noticed that the stage when the Setup-Assistant kicked-in, this was about the time the system halted during my previous OTA update attempt from b5 to b6.

Isn't that usual behavior? I can't quite remember my initial Sonoma Beta install but there were a few moments during the install where I thought it stalled but left it alone along with a slight Mouse movement and the activity LED flicked back into life to continue installing.

Either way you got over the hurdle. :thumbsup_anim:

Anyone know if the wallpaper interval changer control  went away in beta 6 or was it moved somewhere else?

Still able to select a directory of pictures but no automatiic changer control in wallpaper after update to beta 6.
