Updated flawlessly to beta 7.

Z390 + 6600 XT + i9-9900.

OpenCore 0.9.4 with OCLP AMFIPass.kext and root patch applied to get Fenvi wifi working

SMBIOS: iMac19,1 without RestrictEvents.

Full size update (not incremental).

Here is a summary of Sonoma updates (as far as I know) referring to desktops using iMac, ImacPro or MacPro SMBIOS:

1. About getting update notifications

  • iMac19,1 SMBIOS (T2 absent) gets Sonoma updates
  • T2 SMBIOSes don’t get Sonoma updates
  • T2 SMBIOSes with vmm setting (sbvmm, kernel patches or cpuid flag) get Sonoma updates.

2. About full or incremental updates

  • OCLP root patched systems get full size updates
  • systems without OCLP root patch (or root patch reverted): on all machines (T2 and not T2 models) RestrictEvents.kext and revpatch=sbvmm (or kernel patches or cpuid flag) are required to get the incremental update. Without this, they get full updates.

Thanks @Cyberdevs

Correct, as proven with my SmBIOS based Hack iMac Model 2020. :thumbsup_anim:

is it possible to upgrade from Ventura to Sonoma?

i am asking this because i updated OC and all kexts and tools but i get a kernel panic and reboot.

says before the reboot something like this:

no port micro restart (we don't support smc on this platform)

Post your EFI Folder and someone will take a look for you, remove your S/N, SmUUID, ROM etc from config.plist before posting.

The Z390 is a popular board and easy to update to Sonoma.

Try the attached EFI Folder formulated by @miliuco from his GitHub Repository based on his own Z390 and researched experience.

Your EFI Folder contains too many conflicting files, config entries and kexts.

This EFI Folder should get your update to Sonoma without a problem.

The only changes I made to this folder was Update OC to latest version as well as the kext files within.

Good luck.

@eSaF

Thanks but @ham4ever must check some differences:

  • keep the -wegnoegpu boot arg for the unsupported AMD
  • DeviceProperties >> PciRoot(0x0)/Pci(0x1F,0x3) >> in the key layout-id as Data your value is 01000000 and remove alcid=1 in boot args
  • add the BT kexts that you have in your EFI (not needed in my system).

Thanks @eSaF, tried the EFI you provided but it was Stuck on [EB|#LOG:EXITBS:START],  i had to enable AppleXcpmCfgLock.

and tried to login to Ventura but the iGPU was glitchy and automatically reboot  so i had to change PciRoot(0x0)/Pci(0x2,0x0) to the one i use.

and when Ventura booted i lost mouse and keyboard.

now i tried to boot to Sonoma. but was same panic kernel. just with different lines after: no port micro restart (we don't support smc on this platform)

i uploaded a video of the kernel panic:

Thanks - that is why I opted for one of your Builds instead of one of my old Z390 EFI Folders which I still have a copy of.

I figured you'd be the obvious person to direct them if necessary.

@eSaF  is there any solution to get BCM94331 wifi/bt working , including airdrop?

I don't really know as my Fenvi T-919 was native to previous Apple OS versions but is not with Sonoma.

It is now made possible with OCLP whereas WIFI, AIrDrop along with all Apple Continuation functions.

Maybe someone can assist you with your query with your particular Card. Good luck.

All OS on my hack which include Catalina,Big sur,Monterey and Ventura Sleeps very well except for Sonoma even on a fresh clean new install.

Can't put my finger on what could be wrong.

Guess am gonna wait until they finally release it and see.
