Thanks for the info.

Hi Bro, SIP has to be disabled for the installation and stay disabled as long as you use the app, if you enable SIP at any time Sonoma pops up a message that the app is damaged and should be move to the Bin.

GateKeeper has to be disabled as well for the installation. I didn't check to see if it had to be perminant so I don't know.

I Disabled SecureBootModel as @chris1111 recommended for the installation but changed it back after the installation to Default and it made no difference to the operation of the app.

The Realtek.kext is needed along with the other two for the app to work.

To be quite honest Bro, I don't see the benefit for a Desktop if  you're already connected via Ethernet as you still don't get Air Drop or iPhone Camera Hand Off.

I would say this USB Dongle along with the app is more suited for a Laptop purely for mobility but you'll still be without those two features as mentioned.

At the moment if I need to F/Time, I boot into Ventura.

In a way I'm not too disappointed it didn't work as I am hoping a more viable fix can be found for the Broadcom Cards somehow.

Thanks for the info.

This Realtek RTL8812BU USB WiFi Adapter is the one I have ordered. Glad to read your success although I already was expecting some issues (Handoff...) not existing with the Fenvi.

I know that @chris1111 package is needed but I ask a few questions:

  • really SIP disabled is required after package installation? I was hoping that, after this, SIP can be enabled again
  • did you need to enable GateKeeper also (for setup or permanent)?
  • what about SecureBootModel disabled? did you need it?
  • you write "Big Sur app along with the two kexts attached" but I see 3 kexts, all of them are required for this RTL8812BU? @chris1111 package is not enough?

Good afternoon, my friend.

Wy not ordering a USB adapter listing in the working list

Topic is very clear in github, SIP must be disabled from Bootloader or Recovery

To making Sip enabled you need followed instructuction about that

I have always securebootmodel disabled, I dont know about enable?

All working and testing list adapter not need to modifying anything or adding any kext

Some people post here a working adapter working great

@eSaF @chris1111

Thanks. Yes, I got this dongle because it's in the "Support Drivers: (Adapter)" list.

OpenCore developers already have an very early and complicated (I suppose) fix for the Broadcom wifis, I expect they will get the solution but there is no estimated time.

EDIT: juste read about @Casey_S.J. adapter after publishing my post. Thanks.

Uffff!!  I also hope for a solution for our Wi-Fi cards...

If I have to put a usb wifi connection to the laptop to use MacOS... I'm not interested, I would use it with another operating system...

At the moment I have tested a Lenovo with an Intel AC 9560 Wifi and it works well in Sonoma..... although I miss Airdrop and Continuity 😥

With all the so called success I have yet to see a complete setup that gives all the Apple Services like the Fenvi T-919 and I don't mind being proven wrong. Without those extra RTWlan kexts, I got the message no USB Dongle detected but if you say no extra kexts need adding, I am only reporting the results on my MSI Z490.

trying to install sonoma from usb installer onto empty drive.  using latest opencore version and kexts for installer EFI.   can boot my ventura os drive using this EFI but installer loops and  log shows it is stuck on this line "com.apple.xpc.launchd|2023-02-16 18:26:07.798719 (system) <Warning›: failed lookup: name = com.apple.logd, flags = 0x9, requestor = displaypolicyd[164], error = 3: No such process".

I copied this line from a previous post so that will explain the 2023-02 date but it is otherwise the same

I don't believe you have opened an issue on github regarding your problem.

Sorry but You are upload  RealtekRTL8111.kext and this kext is a network kext which has nothing to do with USB wifi or native Wifi

Fenvi T-919 is report working on Big Sur  - - Not working USB 3 no news of this adapter since this time except from you here

I dont have all adapter, I have 6 Realtek working good

Did you test the OpenCore Program without changing anything? If USB not detect did you try changing USB port because in Somona I see a lot of USB. port  issue in the Log -v

I really am not going to argue against or defunct the app, but in testing when I got the message 'No USB Dongle plugged in' I tried other ports (which would be the obvious thing to do) and it made no difference.

Another thing, after I got the app working, I removed the extra kexts to see if they are needed, rebooted cleared Nvram and again the message 'No USB Dongle plugged in' I put the kexts back and the app works.

Like I said, sorry but this solution is not for me, I have a fully working System in Ventura with a T-919 Card that provides all Apple services like a real Mac.

Sonoma is still Beta 1 so there's hope a more viable solution will be offered, if not I will continue to use Ventura as a daily driver and keep Sonoma as a plaything until the plug is completed pulled on Hacks because of the changes by Apple.

I am not in any way claiming my testing was scientifically done or methodical, I just ordered a bunch of Dongles and went about trying them and managed to get two Realtek ones to work, I chose the one that offered dual bands 2.4 and 5.8.

I kept the 5.8 one for maybe future use and raised a return order for the others. I whole heartily applaud all those who installed the app and are happy with the results. With that being said, that is my last journey on USB Dongles in Sonoma.

** Intel WiFi with Sonoma **

As others are pointing out, we can indeed use itlwm in combination with HeliPort to use on-board Intel WiFi with Sonoma. At this time there is no Sonoma version of AirportItlwm, hence the need to use just itlwm.

  • Copy itlwm.kext into EFI/OC/Kexts
  • Add an entry in config.plist -> Kernel
  • Download HeliPort and copy it into Applications folder
  • We can keep SIP enabled (csr-active-config = 00000000)
  • Reboot

When system starts up, run HeliPort from Applications folder. You should then see a WiFi icon in menu bar. Select your SSID from there.

On my Asus X670E Gene, the on-board Intel WiFi is just as fast as wired Ethernet!

With Intel WiFi we get the following:

  • HandOff
  • Continuity Clipboard
    • Copy something on iOS or iPadOS to clipboard and it's available in macOS, and vice-versa

We do not get AirDrop.

Ok, so I will pose the same question to you my friend, have you got 'AirDrop' and 'Hand Off' to iPhone Camera with this implementation or am I expecting too much.

Yes we can get WIFI working with work around but I have yet to see a post with 100% success.

No AirDrop and HandOff with this utility, I never see a user activate this thing because I think you need a BCM wifi to this

Maybe with a new USB adapter

Wifi also work with D-LinkUtility-Package :D I use Alfa AWUS036ACM

EDIT: Not sure what I was thinking when I posted this question.  Leaving the post below to further embarrass myself. 🤣

Has anyone tested the new BlueToolFixup.kext with BCM94360NG?  I don't have the card at the moment or I would test it myself.

Yes of course but the problem with Sonoma is broadcom wifi not working, so it's better than nothing
