Perry44
Hey people. I've been checking out a few apple apps such as final cut pro, etc, and have found that most have High Def. capabilities, such as creating HD dvds, etc. I also find that Quicktime has HD support. My question is what is the point of this since Mac's do not have HD DVD capabilites? I'm a bit confused about mac apps that support/feature High definition. If someone would take a bit of time to explain it it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Perry44
Alright, so that codec is built into my Quicktime 7 Pro? And by just watching any movie it automatically gives me high definition video quality? Thanks
McSkywalker
You don't need to have the pro version of QT in order to take adventage of that codec. Just like the other codecs, it's installed with Quicktime and it is available to any application that uses Quicktime. Pro will only give you the editing capabilities -mostly cut, copy, paste and convert- within Quicktime Player. (Apart from fullscreen video) It's a codec that permits scalable quality, so if your videos that are encoded with H264 match the HD standards, it means you already have HD. Perry44
Ah, I see. But I am checking out some of the HD movie trailers on Apple's website at 720p, and the quality doesnt seem that good. I googled H.264 and there are tons of forum reviews, etc, saying that they encoded their movies in H.264 and it was unbelievable; but I am not getting that. Maybe my expectations are set too high? Thanks!
