chummdoggin
Trying to get software updates working by changing clover CSRActiveConfig from 0xA87 to 0x7FF but just changing that one value, clover boots catalina to "macOS not supported on platform" SMBIOS is MacPro6,1 but boot arg in clover Boot section does not work -no_compat_check. If I enter the arg in boot screen options, the machine reboots after just starting the catalina drive. having only changed the csractiveconfig values as I just mentioned. Guest ricoc90
No need for -no_compat_check, MacPro6,1 is supported by Catalina. Also, it's been awhile so things might have changed but I used to have CSRActiveConfig set to 0x67 and never had problems updating.

On my CMP you do csrutil status and get plain disabled and its running monterey. If I set clover to 0x67 then the same query on the clover machine is answered the same but the software update wheel just keeps a spinnin. Probably should not use configurator and instead Plistedit pro or such. When I saved with configurator, after changing csractive values is when the clover bootscreen showed no args. Odd then that I keep getting Os not supported must be the fault of configurator. Now I think software update does not require you sign in does it? Don't want to sign in and affiliate my id with a mac that's not setup up properly yet. I think 5t33zo answered the problem here. I think I need to look into settings in smbios regarding firmware. Have yet to try it. Edited July 25, 2022 by chummdoggin

As I told you already: perform an NVRAM reset – Press F11 in the Boot menu. And why are you using a MacPro SMMBIOS for a Laptop? MacBookPro9,2 IS the correct SMBIOS for the system listed in your signature!

chummdoggin
Alright I am sorry it has been some time since updating the profile. I do still have those machines. The one from this thread is a 6 series sandy bridge i7 2600 Acer desktop. Using a gt 630 previously used on a CMp which has a mac boot screen rom. Not sure if that will give any problems but noticed that apple tv plays surround sound on it. I have tried booting into safe or recovery and I get a stall with the last verbose being -exiting efi..... I have done F11 in clover screen. Don't know if it worked but changes last booted disk to windows and effects the bios boot order. The catalina installation was done on an old Hdd. thought to try combo update but that gave an error for installing on the disk CLOVER.zip User's Mac Pro.zip
Guest 5T33Z0
@chummdoggin This is what I see at first glance Error in Devices/Properties: PciRoot(0x0)/Pci(0x1,0x0)/Pci(0x0,0x1 (missing bracket a t the end of the Device Path). Close the bracket. Is this entry for your GT 730? For macOS Mojave and newer, the iGPU must be disabled in the BIOS because it's longer supported. Did you disable it? Are you sure you this MMIO Whitelist entry needs to be enabled?: "Generic: PCI root is a 0x1000 page memory region used by some firmwares" Quirks and Kernel Patches look correct

Had the same missing bracket on the audio board path. Yes that path is for the gt 630. I don't have many choices in that bios. Tried to update it but got the wrong size error. Why do they give you a bios update that does not work? Saw someone in the bios forum with the cheaper version with the i5 cpu was talking about soldering in order to get a 3rd gen on. Something about ivy roms needing 3mb and such. Will look again but pretty sure no setting as such. There is no indication its trying to do anything with IGPU I took that MMIO whitelist entry off and it booted fine Does that last verbose trying to boot in safe mode say something? About exiting efi... and the same trying to boot recovery partition. Did you mention something about partitions? I ran the first aid on it and it checked out as ok. These don't look too promising. Things have come a long way since apple switched to intel. So many good developers these days. Downloading the installer now. On the reboot the regular edited config kept getting (#log bs:start (which it does at times but kept doing in this case) where it halted until I used the usb stick that still had older info not sure the difference atm. Running the installer over was what was needed to get the software update to work again. Now shows the security update/safari The config still was doing EB)# exit:bs:start before halting operation. Once again required using the usb. Just looking over the two and can't find a difference between them. Will have to fire up diff checker or something but perhaps difference is HDD/USB? No. Config is the same but the drivers on the usb included the old drivers OsxAptioFix3Drv. Don't know what it is yet. Same thing trying to get OC to work. Do you want to boot in verbose mode ? If so, just select it from Clover main GUI screen by pressing [SPACE] over your selected OS X/macOS partition. Firstly thank you so much, a nice job there! It may have something to do with the HDD as far as what I meant about the boot args not showing up. When going to save in clover configurator on that drive I think is where the problems come from. Also will get "this os not allowed on platform". Made those changes and about to try it out. Here is the power management ssdt I created back when I ran el capitan on it. I did not redo it this time because the script was looking on the DSDT or some such when the information was on SSDT-3. I was having difficulty. Every attempt at using OC halts at #log EXITBS:start. Clover using runtime does this sometimes but gets past it easier. Yes the SSDT table ids werent dropped in upload. Yes dont need a couple of those ACPI patches. At least I know the GPRW to XPRW can help with sleeping. Just need to do some more reading closely to get how to convert ACPI patches to/from clover/OC Edited July 27, 2022 by chummdoggin

OC proposes only set of SSDT tables for all occasions. AFAIK OC can't provide patches for MADT, FADT and FACS.
chummdoggin
Found a setting that enabled sleep in the firmware settings which was "deep power off". There are two PM settings s1 and s3. Setting s1, the machine does not sleep but the display will wake. Setting s3 the machine will now sleep but the display will not wake. I am going to try CFG,CFG_USE_AGDC | Data | 00 on the properties for the display next. That did not work in clover devices / properties need to read where that came from- Thats for Amd! With aptiofix, there seems to be less problems. Same deal if trying to boot the recovery volume. Judging from the clover manual the tick in clover for dontdorecovery is not actually don't boot recovery right? But this variable prevent from ordinary boot so Clover can block this variable in ordinary mode. It is not influencing on recovery boot. I don't know why Apple invents such confusing feature. This one does not wake from sleep? Normal? Does a card flashed for a real Mac boot screen have an effect on this? The Ioreg showed 4 ports all set to HDMI. Could that be a cause? The card has 2 DP and 1 DVI. Machine uses DVI converter to HDMI at the moment. Thats about all that does not function on the machine. The rest is sorted out for OC or Clover. OC GUI wont work after tried everything Edited August 10, 2022 by chummdoggin
