chummdoggin
Funny thing is that the install said nothing about it and formatted the HDD to apfs for 10.15. Open core will not see a HDD formatted to apfs? I did not think that an HDD was allowed but diskutility finds no problem with it Edited July 7, 2022 by chummdoggin

Guest ricoc90
As already mentioned APFS on conventional disks should be okay albeit being incredibly slow and the APFS driver is built-in within OpenCore. In your config.plist, under UEFI -> APFS, set enableJumpStart to true if it isn't already Edited July 7, 2022 by ricoc90
etorix
Check UEFI>APFS>MinDate and MinValue, and try setting "-1" (or Catalina-compatible values). For security reasons, OpenCore defaults to aggressively restrict what APFS driver is allowed to load.
PippoX0
Hint: Catalina runs also well on HFS partition on HDD.You need only to clone from APFS to HFS (After you have installed it on APFs)
