I tested without WEG this two keys... Logically it is enough but panic.

What about using WEG? does it still end up with a KP? I will test it later and see how it goes on my end.

I borrowed the app from Mrey  "System Preferences"  😆
It works perfectly on Ventura...

Interesting. Strange that it says unidentified developer (it's Apple). And Schedule works.

All looks good except:

1. I don't think you should use CsmVideoDxe.efi. It is for old cards not having UEFI BIOS.

2. The quirk EnableSafeModeSlide may cause Panic. Disable the quirk.

@Slice I've turned off EnableSafeModeSlide and also deleted CsmVideoDxe.efi and still can't install Ventura B4, got the same error as before.

I've been using CsmVideoDxe.efi to get 1440p at Clover GUI.

What I've noticed is that my macOS Ventura B4 makes a lot of files in the USB installer, I never saw that with others macOS versions when creating the installer.

Anyway, I think I'll wait for another Beta, (maybe 5), to sse if something changes.

Thanks for all your support!

Also, why did you opt for faking Amber Lake iGPU id 0x87C0 and MBP15,2 SMBIOS which is Coffee Lake?

Just because it works, and when I choose 16590000 the frame buffer looks like Intel UHD Graphics 617 and as Metal 3 device. And used MacBookPro15,2 my system become more stable with Ventura 13 BETA 4. Should I use MacBookPro14,1 (Kabylake) and 16590000 (Intel HD Graphics 620) ?

Well, in the clean installation of beta 4, I don't have those problems of high CPU consumption caused by "powerd"

Moreover, I do not have that process 🤷‍♂️

Thanks I use it with a Realtek card reader but I didn't know it worked on JMicron

Are you sure? I am no expert but my installation is also a clean one and your usage data output is much higher than mine, albeit I suppose you have to factor in component specs for comparison although I think your figures should be a lot lower???!!! - But if you're happy with your results then all is well. :thumbsup_anim:

@Slice can you fix hwmonitorsmc2 to work well in Ventura? Thank you!

Sorry, no.

The HWMonitorSMC2 works fine in Ventura on a hardware without NVME.  It crashes reading NVMe disk. Some other developer needed. I just have no such device.

Otherwise I can prepare a version without check for NVME.

In my case, as I attempted to explain

it only crashes when I use a kext injector to make the nvme disk look like an apple ssd controller. If I don't use the kext injector, HWMonitorSMC2 works flawlessly with my nvme disks

AFIAK it was included in the WEG all you need to do is to add the correct iGPU info like ig-platform-id (of the closes KabyLake relative to your iGPU) and the device-id for instance for my HD530 (i7 6700K) I used the following settings:

image.png

But then again i haven't tested the latest beta so somethings might have changed in the lates beta (which I doubt)

In my quest to also be able to install Ventura beta 4 on my Gigabyte Z170X-UD3 Skylake machine, I configured

PciRoot(0x0)/Pci(0x1F,0x3) --> AAPL,ig-platform-id = 00001259

as well as

PciRoot(0x0)/Pci(0x2,0x0) --> device-id = 1259000

in my OC config.plist file, unfortunately without success.

Is there anything else that needs to be done to be successful?

Already upgraded to the latest OC 0.8.3 available including all kexts, dated 01 August 2022.

I am getting the infamous "No Entry" sign when I attempt the installation of Ventura beta 4.

The onboard iGPU 530 is enabled in bios and configured as a headless device.

For the dGPU I am using an AMD RX 580.

Greetings Henties

@Slice, I don't speak about the problem with X299NVMe.kext and/or NVMe disk. I speak about HWMonitorSMC2 in Ventura. The window can not be resized and if I want to change the position on the desktop, it crash. It has same behaviour on Z690, Z390, B560.

@Henties

I'm using OpenCore Auxiliary Tool to edit my config.plist. OpenCore Configurator hasn't been updated to support "LoadEarly" function yet.

All I can tell is that you need to remove all the DeviceProperties except for the iGPU and plug the display to your mainboard's HDMI/DP port (I'm using HDMI) instead of the dGPU otherwise you might get some issues booting into macOS although RX 580 should work just fine.

On my SkyLake rig i'm having and unsupported dGPU (R9 270X) so i'm using the iGPU as the primary graphics for Ventura.

use the padlock at the bottom right of the window, close it and you will see that you can resize without crashing the app

Yes of course, I have CPU usage because when I took the screenshot I was installing programs, and apart from that I usually have safari with many tabs and quite a few things working...

I have now arrived home, yesterday I automatically went to sleep, and that is how it has been until now that I woke him up...

and notice that just as I left it yesterday, how little CPU usage it has when it wakes up (and "powerd" doesn't exist now)

Whether or not a device is headless depends on the chosen AAPL,ig-platform-id and the framebuffer it's associated with. A framebuffer is considered "empty" if it only contains dummiy connectors. Since ig-platform-id (0x59120000) has connectors, it's technically not an empty framebuffer (that would be 0x59120003). But it doesn't matter since you're only using it to trick macOS Ventura into "believing" you are using a Kaby Lake CPU with Intel HD 630 graphics.

Actually it did occur to me that you may have many tabs opened at the time that induced the higher data output than my own. Now that you've successfully removed 'powerd', run  'First Aid' in 'Disk Utility' on all the Ventura volumes and check for any warnings, if none, you are good to go.
