polkaholga
Hi folks, my hack is booting fine with OC 0.5.7 but I get an error at booting right before OC kicks in... "failed to parse field string of type 2" I get this twice, anyone having an idea which field string that could be ? I've read the manual and all about debugging but even with debugging and the appropriate drivers I can't find the relevant string ( dumb or blindness may be another option... ) any hints appreciated... Thanks Hi @polkaholga You can use plutil via Terminal: type plutil, drag and drop your config.plist. Compare your config.plist to sample.plist: I do that when there are some changes.
polkaholga
Hi @Matgen84 thanks for your input, output from Terminal was ok in all instances.... nevertheless after leaving the config alone for a while and returning back i could solve it by filling out some empty comment strings i hereby declare myself blind.... or dumb... still not sure what applies

emperor95
Hi, I spent the last 3 days trying to install Catalina on my PC but so far with no luck. I created my USB stick for that (USB2 8GB Kingston). When OpenCore starts to run and the stick is selected for boot, after 2-3 minutes I always get an error with prohibited sign and unreadable glitchy texts("Still waiting for root device" is the last line). In my opinion for some reason all of my USB ports are blocked (both keyboard and mouse leds are shuts off by that time I got this message by themselves), that's why OC can't read from my stick. I copied my files from OpenCore-0.5.6-DEBUG folder and USB is created 100% by Ivy Bridge tutorial perfectly. Set everything in the MOBO which settings where present. These are the following things that I have tried so far from various macOS forum posts: -Connected my stick to all USB ports on my MOBO (Both SATA2 and SATA3) -Disconnected keyboard and mouse right after OC starts -With and without USBInjectAll kext in Kextsfolder (same with XHCI-unsupported.kext) -HDD was connected to SATA2 then SATA3 right into MOBO My config: CPU: Intel i5 3570k MOBO: Asrock Z77 Extreme 4 MEM: Kingston 8GB DDR3 1600 (2x4) VGA: nVidia GTX 680 LAN : Broadcom BCM57781 Can you help me please what I am doing wrong? telepati
is anyone can boot in safe mode with OpenCore? I am trying but I can't. After finishing the verbose monitor goes to sleep but all fans are working. EnableSafeModeSlide YES ProvideCustomSlide YES I tried with HotKey (Shift) and -x boot arg but I never boot it. Any idea what can I try? When I in verbose looks like the system does not load the video card kexts. Verbose not stuck or anything but I read a couple of lines AMD9500Controller and AMDRadeonX4000 shows not loaded. I thought probably monitor goes the sleep because of that. But I am not sure. Edit; I tried without these Quirks but nothing changed. Here is my verbose; Its clearly saying kexts are not loadable in safe mode. I think it is not possible to boot in safe mode on Hackintosh. I have only 4 options under my USB advanced settings in BIOS: USB Controller USB3 Controller USB Legacy support (As I googled this option is EHC) USB3 Legacy support (Its secondary text is = (XHC), so I guess it has to be the XHC handoff setting for me) All of the above settings are set to enabled. But unfortunately I have no EHC option anywhere in BIOS, just the 4 options that I mentioned. UPDATE: I have triple checked every settings in UEFI, and when I save settings and reboot, MOBO gives a message that PC is cannot be started in CSM mode disabled, so it sets back automatically to enabled. Whereas OC Vanilla guide says it has to be disabled. Maybe I have to pick out my VGA and try again with IGP? telepati
@tyufhl I tested it but there is no chance. I think the problem is WEG for me. As far as I see your GPU is supported natively and you are not using WEG. But I need WEG I cant manage the boot without it. And when I using WEG, on SafeMode command OpenCore disabling WEG somehow and I can't make a boot. No chance for me boot in SafeMode Edited March 20, 2020 by telepati

_npc_10f2c
I'm a bit confused, I've been reading the OpenCore Vanilla guide, I believe I have to follow the legacy options considering I have a Bloomfield. The problem is the setup requires a working macOS system while the rest of the guide is ok with using Windows/Linux to get everything working. Is it even possible to set everything up using Windows for a legacy system? Or should I just be using Clover instead? Up to a few days ago I had High Sierra running on dual monitors, I don't know what went through my mind and I decided to see if I could install Catalina, I got decently far but once it was installed it wouldn't boot. I'm going to assume it was wishful thinking that a Bloomfield could be compatible? Overall I'd like to get High Sierra up and running again, let me know your thoughts.
