Can you help me with my Sandy Bridge Laptop?

I currently have 0.5.8 on my P55 chipset desktop (Legacy mode) and works amazing. However I can't make it work on my Asus U46E Laptop (UEFI).

I can install macOS with Clover just fine, but I get graphic glitches and freezes all over. On latest OC versions I saw the ReservedMemory section and includes a fix for HD3000.

The problem is that the laptop reboots as soon the kernel is loaded (as seen in the log). By tweakig the Quirks of the Booter section, I can even manage to not reboot but instead I get a Kernel Panic (Unaligned frame) but I don't get what causes it.

Attached is my config. The DSDT is working fine form Clover.

I’d like to block/disable my on-board wifi/BT in OC. I have the z390 Pro Wifi. I have the wifi disabled in the BIOS right now but would like to keep it enabled for W10 and have it disabled for macOS.

what is the best method for this?

You can use Hackintool.app method to create your own USBPorts.kext without Wifi, I remember well. For Aorus Pro, you've got AudioGod's Thread for help on this mobo.

Can someone please share an example of a DSDT or SSDT with the modifiactions needed for the DSDT or SSDT to NOT be applied to Windows.

For SSDT, except 2 or 3, they have If (_OSI ("Darwin")): take a look in Docs/ACPISamples. I don't know about DSDT :)

If I remember it well, a dev answered the same question, and told that since there is no macOS Driver interacting with the WiFi chipset, it doesn't really have much of a side-effect leaving it ON.

With regards to the Bluetooth, you can exclude it on your USB Mapping. I think you have to use a conditional SSDT though, like

If (_OSI ("Darwin"))

to make it applicable only on macOS.

You do the excess sizes. Use icnspack utility from OpenCore.

Hi,

Was wondering what file sizes does the icon1x, icon2x and icon file correspond to?

Thank you

Does anyone else have trouble using sleep/wake on their laptops? in my case I can put my laptop to sleep but after waking up I get a black screen (with backlight on) and a mouse cursor, after a minute it just restarts with the following error:

Tried changing smbios, changing to other ig-platform-id's, tested by removing some kext's and some acpi files and even tried to inject a custom EDID to see if that was the problem. The end result is always the same. Can someone help me up with this? or one of the devs @Andrey1970

My laptop specs:

HP Pavilion 14-bf104np

CPU: i7 8550u (kabylake refresh)

GPU: UHD620 + Nvidia 940MX (disabled)

RAM: 16GB

Wifi/BT: Replaced intel card with a DW1560

Hi,

Was wondering what file sizes does the icon1x, icon2x and icon file correspond to?

Thank you

Very small since the requirements are low res PNG input files.

That is, you make one PNG file that's 128x128 pixels (icon1x.png) and another that's 256x256 pixels (icon2x.png) and the utility will output an ICNS file (icon.icns) that contains two icons (128x128 and 256x256) inside.

See the files I uploaded few pages above for @SavageAUS.

You can use a 1024x1024 pixel file and Image2Icon App to convert it ICNS file and OpenCanopy displays the ICNS file fine but of course that file is almost 10x bigger in file size.

rottenpants your issue is usually caused when you have dual gpus like nvidia and intel

I forgot to include the nvidia card in the specs. I followed this guide in order to disable the card, used the optimus method:

https://dortania.github.io/Getting-Started-With-ACPI/Laptops/laptop-disable.html

Either way, disabled or not i always get a black screen with a mouse cursor :|

Is there any workaround for this particular issue?

Two sizes: png 128x128 and png 256x256.

icns - is final file, which contains both images.

Hi @Andrey1970

Is this information bad in my debug journal?
