borgward
2006 Intel iMac. I wanted to boot Linux on USB HDD. Wanted to leave OSX on the iMac's internal HDD. Tried many ways. I suspect the iMac will not boot to the external drive becaues of the iMac's firmware. The Linux is configured to boot a Mac. I have Linux installed in a 2006 MacBook. I tried booting the above mentioned USB Linux HDD but it would not boot. Am I correct in thinking that it is the Mac hardware, firmware that is preventing booting to an external USB Drive? No, I do not want to run the Mac from a USB stick. Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/348344-boot-from-usb-hdd/ Share on other sites
