A few years back I built a system that's currently running MacOS Sierra and now I'd like to upgrade to Big Sur via a fresh install on a new ssd.

Is it possible to run Big Sur with an EVGA 1060 6GB card?

Asus Z170i Mini ITX Mobo

Intel 3.4 Ghz i7 Quadcore (6th gen)

32GB 2400Mhz DDR4 Ram

EVGA 1060 6GB

Ok thanks for confirming! Bummer! What type of card should I be looking for as a replacement? Any recommendations?

AMD all of them. But it's a bad time, they are very expensive or very rare now.
