BuXb
@Hervé whaaaaaooooot? So if one has several Big Sur Macs to update, either each has to dl the update, or one has to dl the full 11.4 GB installer for offline update? And that with each update???? Arent't we all supposed to minimize web traffic so save some energy, and Apple agreed to that, too? In this context, two questions, if anybody knows (I don't have enough time these days to be fully in the loop on these things): Has Apple issued a sane (or not so sane) reason for that? I'm aware of the Intel/ ARM M1 fork, but that would just mean two different incremental + 2 different combo updaters. Somewhere someone posted a direct dl link for the full 11.2 installer directly from an Apple server. So it appears there is only ONE UB installer for BOTH archs, Intel & ARM M1? Or are they different depending on if, via App Store, I download from an Intel or from an ARM M1 Mac? BuXb
@Hervé great reply, learned a lot, thanks for taking the time. Just: Quote every Big Sur update now triggers a 12GB download hmm, are you 100% sure? Isn't 11.1 -> 11.2 = 3.25GB? At least that's what the Software Update Pref Pane says. It'll still take me a few days until I want to update, but I'll sure save the content of /Library/Updates before it gets emptied again at the end of installation, and share the size. What I'll also try is save that folder, then try use it to update my backup Big Sur 11.2 Beta install. 1 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/346550-macos-big-sur-112-released/#findComment-2750109 Share on other sites
